NASCAR needs to spread its wings internationally. Nairobi would be a good spot for it in Africa. The country music fans are already in place.

2026 economic sciences laureates Robert E. Hall’s and Michael Woodford’s research has made us better equipped to manage economic downturns. They laid the foundation of the New Keynesian paradigm, in which models are built upon microfoundations, which means from the bottom up. Economic outcomes are the result of millions of decisions made at the microlevel by households and businesses. Using models based upon this approach, rather than simply studying the economy from a macro perspective, like a bird’s eye view, Hall’s and Woodford’s research has generated a paradigm shift in the theory of stabilisation policy. #NobelPrize

As the Chinese scam industry spreads beyond Asia’s fortified compounds, it’s become cheaper and easier to run – thanks to AI – and harder to kill. A recent bust of a scam centre on the 18th floor of an upmarket apartment building in central Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, spotlights the shift to new sites across the world for an industry that may have cost victims as much as $442 billion across 42 countries last year. - Bloomberg

The tax dispute with KRA is one factor but IMO more consequential is the rightward turn in US tech. The site was established after serious lobbying and sponsorship by diaspora Africans working at MS just before Covid. This was after the tech scene really took off in the 2010s
One of the most consequential IT companies is winding up operations due to the nasty unpredictable tax regime we have in place. We have lost a superb FDI. 😡🤬

The cost of employing in Kenya is massively high. My employer is hiring in Belgrade, Serbia where the cost is half. For same gross, someone in Belgrade takes home more in net S/ware engineer $2k :Kenya $4k Tech sales (AM/AE) $1.5k :Kenya $5k BDR/SDR $1k :Kenya $2k

Nine fighter engines for sale and they’re just sitting in the mud... The listing’s real. Seller’s got RD-33s up, retired MiG-29 ones, 550,000 yuan, claims good condition and good for teaching or mods. RD-33 is the one that made the MiG-29 loud. Later the same family became the RD-93 for the JF-17 and also went in the early J-31s. Those J-31 flights happened, but nobody was bragging about the performance numbers after. As someone who works on engines I look at them sitting outside and already start thinking about how much corrosion is hiding under the covers.
