‘Smiling Friends’ creators Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack chose to end the series after Season 3 despite it being picked up for two more seasons.
Hadel says they weren’t creatively burned out and still had plenty of ideas, but the show’s small budget and crew left them handling nearly every part of production. Continuing would have caused the series to “lose the spark.”
