Everyone said yes!!! What a waste of time and money it is to hire graphic designers, just choose your favourite fan art and done!
Oh, so we're distributing fanart now because the artists don't own the original characters and therefore have no rights over their work? That's the logic?

I don’t know why people want to fight me about this but you absolutely do own the copyright to your written text, your prose, your sentences, and you don’t need to register it or anything transformativeworks.org/upda…

Don't post it on Google docs, very easy actually.
I'm discovering ao3 is like a great wall for keeping animals contained because ever since it came down I'm seeing more and more insane takes, like "let's report fanfic TO GOOGLE" yes let's risk the existence of fanfiction by bringing legality into it

“Y’all are gonna get into legal trouble for writing fanfic.” No, my friend, apparently every single one of you is getting into legal trouble. Remember? Nobody owns their work, everything is everyone's property once it's public. That's what y'all keep saying, right?

What we learned from the ao3 debacle is that fan art and fan edits can also be distributed as anyone pleases

Fanartist standing with fanfic writers on this one. The way some of y'all are treating creators and their work is genuinely sick. Solidarity means respecting ALL creators ❤️

y’all aren't downloading and “saving” fanfiction out of the goodness of your hearts. You have a hero complex and want the validation that comes with playing savior by reposting someone else’s work somewhere else. Just say you want the attention 😭

You complain about AI-generated fanfiction but then turn around and feed an AI training platform actual, human-written fanfiction. Be so fucking for real😭

Some people are so dismissive of authors' boundaries and consent, then you look at their bios and they openly state that they write non-consensual sex and sexual content involving minors. No wonder they dont care about consent 🙄

Bro, y’all are the ones running around like headless chickens because you can’t read your bedtime prn anymore. The rage, the tantrums, the sheer desperation… this is what addiction looks like. Y’all are genuinely not okay. 😭

almost everyone who posts their work online, whether it be writing or art, does it because they want to share it and have people engage in their work, or else they would leave it in private. why are we shocked lol
am I being too harsh or "without the author gaining any site engagment" is absolutely stupid? ao3 is an archive, not a social media or a fic site. you shouldnt care about "gaining" anything.

people in big fandoms seem to be demons rn so I've never been so happy to write for niche fandoms

people on the comments saying “then delete them” like they aren’t the ones sobbing and shitting themselves about ao3 going down lol
the way discourse is already turning towards this rhetoric that since ao3 is an archive writers shouldn't expect comments and should be ok with people mass sharing their fic and they consented to this because they're on ao3 is lowkey making me think about deleting all my fic

Bro i know these people are not writers bc it is not the numbers themselves but the feeling of contributing and being a part of something and bringing another person joy or emotion. Thats what the numbers reflect 🫩
feels like what a lot of newer ao3 posters really want to do is make their fics only available in patreon sort of deal- where you have to pay for access to them with engagement and comments and kudos- and that's what's going to finally kill off fandoms completely
