Excellent news. NVIDIA GPUs now support Advanced Shader Delivery with the latest driver. Even better news: ASD will work on any storefront (including Steam) as long as you've got the Xbox app installed on your PC.

DLSS 5 continues to get faster.

Rebuilding the BVH when using RT with complex geometry (like Nanite) is very expensive, so devs typically use low quality proxy meshes, which results in missing/inaccurate reflections & shadows. RTX Mega Geometry in Gears of War: E-Day fixes this at minimal perf cost (~11%.)

No surprise here, but the Sony BRAVIA 9 II was voted the best LED TV at the @HDTVTest LED TV shootout. Interested to see how it fares in the overall TV shootout vs the top OLED.

Safari doesn't have the ability to go back to the previous page with the back button on the mouse, so I created an extension to do so with nothing but natural language using the "Describe an Extension" feature for Safari in macOS 27. Pretty cool feature 👍

System usage during a Siri AI prompt. CPU, GPU, NPU and SSD usage all spike on first prompt. SSD read bandwidth reaches almost 2.4 GB/s during a voice prompt with the new expressive voice, but peaks at only 800 MB/s during a text prompt. System remains fast and snappy though.

In addition to faster app startup times, I got a decent boost in AirDrop transfer speed with iOS/macOS 27. Transferring a 7GB video file from an iPhone to a MacBook Pro: iOS/macOS 26: 1 minute 49 seconds iOS/macOS 27: 1 minute 31 seconds 16% improvement.

Expressive voice for Siri in iOS/macOS 27 uses a 20B parameter on-device model. More impressive than the features it enables is the fact that they got a 20B model running on devices with as little as 12GB RAM. Model resides on SSD & makes dynamic routing decisions per prompt.

App load times seem to be much faster in macOS 27 (Chrome being an exception.) Safari, Word, Excel, among others, open virtually instantly. Good update 👍

A few shots from the official DLSS 5 implementation in NBA 2K27. It's more restrained than how people have been using it with the mods, but it definitely brings out a lot of detail in the player models and shading is considerably improved.
