Ukraine blew up three buildings in Russia and a bunch of American Reddit arguments stopped mid-sentence.
The buildings were Yandex data centers in Vladimir and Kaluga. Yandex is basically Russia's Google. Its network collapsed twice after the strikes, and Kommersant reported the fried servers could take up to six months to fix.
Then people started checking Reddit. Several big US political subreddits lost a huge chunk of their activity within hours. One analysis found an Irish politics sub down as much as 80% in traffic tied to a single data center. German subs dropped too.
Now for the honest caveat. This is correlation. Real Russian users lost internet too, and a regular guy in Moscow going offline looks exactly like a troll farm going offline in raw traffic data. If the numbers bounce back in a week as operations reroute through VPNs, the story shrinks.
But one detail keeps nagging at me. Russia's digital development minister went to the Defense Ministry on Monday to talk about protecting Yandex's data centers. You don't ask the army to guard a search engine unless something more important than search runs inside it.
And think about how hard this normally is to prove. Reddit spent a year investigating the Internet Research Agency and banned 944 accounts back in 2018, and that took a special counsel investigation on top of the platform's own work.
A power outage did the same job in one morning, by accident.

The Tesla Model 3 with FSD is mind-blowing. Jessica and I drove to the gym without touching the controls once. It backed out of our driveway, drove there, and backed into a parking space. It's amazing that you can buy so much future for $40k.
. @mightyleaf and organic tea in a plastic bag is worse then what organic helps. Paper bags please.
And people mock me for the fear of China.
Palmer Luckey reveals Oculus repeatedly found wiretap electronics hidden inside product samples from Chinese factories, and says they would listen in and transmit voice samples over cellular radio
“Here’s another example. How many computers exist in the Japanese government, critical utilities, infrastructure and the military? Millions, at least millions of computers.
“So then the question becomes: how many of them are compromised by Chinese intelligence operations placing listening devices or false components in them? Some people would say zero, and I think they’re crazy.
“I actually have personal experience with China placing listening devices into sample products that I would receive from Chinese factories. This was at my previous company, Oculus VR. My first company was a virtual-reality company I started when I was 19 years old.
“There were multiple times when we discovered actual wiretap electronics in product samples that were given to us. They would listen to us and transmit the voice samples over a cellular radio.
“If I experienced them trying to steal our technology and our decisions even as a small company, surely they’re targeting every government, every military, and every company.”

Congrats @SpaceX! Gorgeous launch, getting Ship to orbit and managing every step in a safe, responsible, and especially inspirational way. @NASA, along with the rest of the interested public, is excited to help where we can and for Starship missions to become routine!

It was my honor to keynote this forum in Taiwan.
"If Taiwan can reach a durable shared view of its own future . . . Beijing will reach the conclusion that many nations have reached many times in history: This is a war that may be winnable, but it is not worth winning."
Glad to kick off our 2nd international forum on Whole-of-Society Defense Resilience, as #Taiwan continues to defend peace through bolstering civil preparedness. Today, we launch the World Alliance for Disaster Management, enhancing Taiwan's contributions with global cooperation.

FSD Supervised v14.3.9 starting to roll out shortly
This release includes a new active safety feature set: FSD Supervised can now activate on your behalf when an imminent collision is detected and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) may not be enough.
It may also engage if we detect you’re heavily distracted or have accidentally disengaged FSD

4th every founder knows that when you have money you burn it on R&D and CAPEX do that you stay ahead of the game. Your theory of them running out of money in 16 months is a joke. Why are you assuming they can't scale back.
. @Rainmaker1973 I'm looking for the chemical compound which I believe someone reported on X in the last year that high concentrations of it in the mitochondria is useful but its dez form outside in the bloodstream accelerates aging. Something along those lines. Do you remember? It should also be in my bookmarks but it is hard to read because there is no automatic organisation or easy search. @nikitabier

Two reports from @SamLyman33 and @bitcoinpolicy document a coordinated foreign influence campaign against American AI — running through CCP state media, a Shanghai-based Marxist's nonprofit network, and foreign billionaire dark money that has funneled $2B+ into US advocacy infrastructure.
AI doomerism isn't as organic as it looks.
Dear @ChrisMinnsMP & @AlboMP, can you please dissuade people from investing into property? Good first step in May, but more of this is needed.
A financial investor never cares about whether the house is good or bad.

Listening to @edels0n in summary: big tech balance sheets (including bonds) are financing the valuation uplift of companies.
