Visited @ComptonUnified and this Kindergarten student grabbed my hand and asked if she could read to me. She is in the dual language program and read to me in Spanish. #DPLIS #JoyInEducation

Jose Gonzalez, a #dpvils coach in @ComptonUnified, says virtual coaching has taught him the importance of the teacher: "All the greatest technology in the world still can't replace the interaction that the teacher has w/ their students in the classroom." #TeacherAppreciationWeek

I love @Flipgrid!!!!! I just watched an EL student, who hardly ever speaks up or participates, fully explain what causes day and night. He used words like "orbit" and "rotation" and spoke in beautiful complete sentences.

Compton school teachers have always been among the most resilient and hard working. When I was 5yo, a @ComptonUnified kindergarten teacher discovered my physical abuse and called the police. That led to my being placed in foster care and ending up with a loving foster family.
