5.6 Sol

An OpenAI model just helped find what the company calls "one of the most impactful security issues in recent memory."
The target was PHP, the language behind WordPress and nearly 70% of websites.
Security firm Calif pointed GPT-5.6 Sol at PHP’s code, and it found a critical flaw that could let attackers take over a server without logging in. Wiz found the same bugs independently.
OpenAI then spent two months coordinating the response with PHP’s maintainers, Wiz and Cloudflare.
Patches dropped this morning after details leaked early, but any server that hasn’t updated is still exposed.
The National Security Agency told organizations that can’t update yet to take their systems offline.
Okay, I love the product, but what is this?
There were reports of usage draining faster than anticipated for some users over the weekend. We've identified approximately 40,000 accounts that had an inconsistency on which usage limits where the actual usage that was applied did not correspond to their actual selected plan. We are reaching out individually to all these users and have corrected the issue. If this affected you, we'll add credits to your account. Sorry we got this wrong.
AI is the new big-box store that moved into town
except instead of undercutting local shops, it’s undercutting the jobs that involve thinking, analysis, and expertise.
Just as Walmart and similar chains made many small retailers uncompetitive by offering more selection and lower prices, today’s AI tools are starting to make median-level knowledge work cheaper and faster to outsource or automate.
The implication is that average people may get some convenience from AI, but the same systems that deliver that convenience are also reducing the economic value of the thinking professions those people currently rely on.
It is so silly to have 50+ car brands making the same car.
Yes the flying car is impractical and dangerous but that is exactly the direction we should go into.
Try and invent new things, inspire people.
Not hyperoptimise the same car, make sure it breaks right after warrany.
CEO: to survive the AI revolution
Replying to @technosucks
Our more modest aim is to survive the AI revolution, help other developers do the same, and come out on the other end making better code and content faster.
how?
I've been traveling the world a bit. One of the most incredible experiences was getting to visit Taiwan w/ @JensenHuang. It was wild 🤯.. huge crowds of engineers, insanely good street food at night markets, and of course a lot of good conversations across many days. I caught some of it on video, see below. Alright, that's it from me, love you all ❤️
