“I ain’t reading all that” was what my Republican colleagues in Congress would say before voting yes on a massive spending bill.

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls.
That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching.
I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee.
Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

Seeing people attack the female pilot of the crash in Florida is absolutely sickening, id like to see you stay calm when falling out the sky at 364 mph. There are some fucking terrible people in this world…
Texas voter: I’m a Republican. I'm an old school Reagan Republican, and I believe personal integrity means things. And so I support people that have good personal integrity, and I like James Talarico. He is the kind of guy we need in office.

As I report here ...
- Stevens told numerous high profile Dems last night she was voting for AES
- staff was literally waiting at the unity rally thinking she was about to arrive
- even key Dems who are similarly skeptical of AES are baffled and aghast

I’ve just heard the news about Senator Murphy.
As someone who survived a near-fatal stroke, I understand all too well how much this impacts your life.
My family is rooting for Chris and his family for a full and speedy recovery.

Three days later, Stevens says she is endorsing Republican Mike Rogers.
When you do vote, will you be voting for Abdul El-Sayed?
Haley Stevens: "Of course, I'm voting, you know, for our Democratic nominee for Senate. I'm voting for the democratic ticket, but I want to encourage, you know, this campaign to shut out the hate and to call it out and to make people who were in my coalition, right, make them feel comfortable about coming to the polls."

In a way, I think this can benefit leftier Dems: If AES wins, his win seems more assertive, feeding into the narrative of the whole establishment being brought to heel. If he loses, the anger shifts away from him for losing, and towards the Stevens camp for betraying the party.

Who would weaponize CEQA to stop a hospital? Literally denying medical care to yourself and your neighbors.

Reminder: while GOPers have been justly going after Democrats for supporting socialism, the GOP under Trump has literally PRACTICED socialism.
Vote out socialists, regardless of the color of their team jersey.
