This needs to be repeated...widely. Say it with me. The RVP waiver for E15 is not a mandate.
This is one of the more mind-boggling issues in agriculture. Allowing year-round sales of E15 is NOT A MANDATE. It simply gives fuel retailers the option to sell E15 nationwide 365 days a year. Consumers still choose what they put in their tanks. This shouldn’t be 👇🏻

NEWS — SPEAKER MIKE JOHNSON just told house republicans that the leadership will not whip the E15 bill. They’re treating it as a vote of conscious. The legislation, pushed by the Midwesterners, allows year-round sale of E15.

1. TH and I are out with a new FDD on the implications of the 2026 and 2027 RVOs for required D4 RIN generation. I know that is a mouthful. But the question is a critical one for biofuel and feedstock markets. farmdocdaily.illinois.edu/20…

One of my worst case urea scenarios just happened. India has announced a 2.5m ton urea purchase tender. Long shipment period (thru June) will help, but this is bad. Global values had been holding back on market fundamentals. Government money just entered the chat. ...crap...

They already were not exporting urea and phosphate (dap/map). This is just stopping all of the other "minor" fertilizer exports.

Lot of fear about "China just banning fertilizer exports" recently. For urea and dap/map, this was already the case. Before 2026 started, the gov't banned the export of those products until August. The recent ban just covers all other "smaller" fertilizers.

However, treasuries failure to point directly to USDA’s rule means producers cannot benefit directly, particularly corn producers.
1/ The new 45Z #Clean #Fuels Production #Tax Credit replaces the blenders tax credit. It was modified most recently in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed in July 2025. From last week's Understanding the Ethanol Market webinar: tinyurl.com/yxh2fw7t

The loss of Qatar/Saudi Arabia/Iran urea exports equates to roughly 81M acres of U.S. corn nitrogen being lost annually. - S.A./Qatar/Iran 2024 urea exports - 13.5M - U.S. corn acre average = 155 lbs/actual N - 1T urea (920 lbs/actual N) = 6 acres - 13.5M x 6 = 81M acres

1. The FAME biodiesel industry has had a tough go of it in recent years, buffeted by the boom in renewable diesel and uncertainty about RFS mandates. While this is true, the industry benefits from several tax credits and these should be taken into account when estimating the profitability of biodiesel production. That is the subject of my latest FDD: farmdocdaily.illinois.edu/20…

For some context/clues around WH Ag event next week, invites went out in early March and include groups with no real connection to biofuels. Groups are being asked to bring some 20 farmers supportive of Trump's agenda, sources tell me.

A Top Iran War Takeaway? Greater US Surpluses of Food and Energy - The US is a net exporter of crude oil, natural gas, corn, soybeans and wheat, and the recent pump in prices due to the Iran war may incentivize more supply and curb demand. A key takeaway from the March 4 All Day Ag Outlook in Covington, Indiana, was the need for domestic demand to support grain prices. Biofuels are the top candidate, which means more energy supply. In my latest FDD we assume that 50% is the smallest level of reallocation. EPA has been signalling it will be between 50% and 100% for some time.
NEWS: Trump administration expected to reallocate at least 50% of exempt gallons under SRE program to larger refiners, and officials have signaled the number could climb higher, sources tell me.
