I just think walking away from “you can see everything” thinking “Amanda Seyfried should really think about how she hurt Elizabeth’s feelings” is one of the crazier takeaways to have

really? what a narrow view! Anderson did in fact write sympathetically & convincingly about girls & women; even Hemingway has a story from an adolescent girl's perspective, "Up in Michigan," that is a knockout; not to mention D.H. Lawrence, Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Hardy & (not least) Shakespeare.
if men can't write about women, women presumably can't write about men.
educated people can't write about lesser-educated people, Black writers can't write about brown people, people from Maine can't write about people from Vermont, no one can write about anyone except the sickly face in the mirror.

Yeah and he's a man purporting to write about a woman's inner life. I'll pass.

@saradu co-founded Alloy Automation and now runs Ando solo, with $20M from Accel, Index and Emergence. She doesn’t think most of your competitors are real.
Every market, in her view, has only a few serious players. The rest talk about the mission and then drift toward quick money.
“A lot of solo founders should take solace in that.”

There are rumored to be four candidates. Three are named, so it’s likely the fourth.

There are only 130 US tech companies, public or private, valued at $10B or more (decacorns). That’s roughly 20 to 30 new companies per decade, for the last five decades. This year alone, with a quarter to go, there have been 42 decacorns minted privately. Either this is the most economically transformative event since the industrial revolution, or we’re getting a wee bit ahead of ourselves.

Jason has a deep emotional bond with Paris and the French people
Let me redo the headline for you @nytimes:
“Criminals loot Paris, beat police and light monuments on fire.
Subhead:
“Citizens are deeply concerned and scared for their personal safety. Election odds predictably swing to law-and-order candidates on prediction markets.”

Be extremely intentional with your friendships — not acquaintances, not business partners, actual friends
Try to pick high-integrity people — the right people
Invest time in those relationships
Cut or downgrade folks who are transactional or who don’t show up for you
Reallocate that time and energy to the right people who do
It's ok to be cutthroat about this, as life is the memories you create with your friends and family.
Invest in making moments.

Your reminder that Trump’s billionaire allies control what you see on TikTok, X, Twitch, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and YouTube — and they have a vested interest in making sure Dems don’t take the majority, so Trump isn’t investigated.

Many popular menswear headlines can be made more interesting if you add some political, historical, or technological dimension to them, rather than just tell people how to dress and what to buy. Examples:
Boring: "Here's how to dress for the office."
Interesting: "Here's how contemporary office dress culture reflects the last century of liberalism."
Boring: "Here are the best shoes this season."
Interesting: "Here's what Victorian shoemaking can tell us about AI."
Boring: "Here are affordable alternative to this season's best bags."
Interesting: "Here's how federal budget cuts have made it harder to spot labor exploitation in global supply chains, which shows up as 'hot deals' for consumers."
Boring: "Here's how to dress hot and sexy."
Interesting: "Here's a history of how people have covertly expressed sexuality through clothes during times when such expressions were taboo."
I would argue that the more people engage with these histories and find deeper meaning in clothes, the more they're able to dress in ways that allow them to express what they want and feel satisfied by what they wear, rather than blindly buying whatever is on a "fall essentials" list.

I love how Marsellus is so incredibly calm and relaxed while one of his own employees yells at him. Most bosses would be all like "I'm your boss, you can't fucking speak to me that way, your goddamn ass is fucking fired" but Marsellus is relaxed, repeats exactly what Jules says and then comes up with an even better situation than the one that Jules asked for. Not to mention, I fucking love, not just the way Ving Rhames performs this scene, but the way Ving Rhames performs every single scene that's in, not just in this movie, but every single movie that he's in.
Out of the money call options a week before earnings?
In a different America, this screams prison time. In this one, a pardon costs a fraction of the premium, if it’s ever even charged.
Someone just bought 3,999 Tesla $430 calls expiring April 2027, paying $27.40 each.
That’s $10.96 million in premium, bought at the ask.
The calls are about 15% out of the money, and open interest was just 40 before today.
Tesla needs to rise to about $457 by expiration, roughly 22% higher, for the buyer to break even.
Tesla reports earnings next week.
