I can't help being a little perplexed that a nasty Covid virus travels around the world from China, mutates, brings the world to its knees while China miraculously beats it with severe lockdowns that the Western world then copies to our chagrin to then return to China in a milder

This is not the first time the federal liberal government through the CMHC has paid $250,000 to study the taxation of primary residences. The first time was in 2020
Media are reporting that the Can. Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)—a Crown corporation under the purview of the Min. of Families, Children and Social Development—is spending $250,000 to study a federal home equity tax that would see residences taxed as capital gains..

As the excellent @EuroBriefing said on his recent Unherd pod, literally the ONLY thing that the EU agrees on rn is Ukraine.
"If Putin didn't exist, they'd have to invent him."
'That's like smashing your own furnace, giving your firewood to the neighbors, and then calling an emergency meeting because you're freezing.'

Richard, the ledger does not care about last night’s debate captions or your recycled “$5 billion gap” graphic.
You spent years as a legislative reporter. You know the Public Accounts. The NDP you are now running for tabled a $13.8 billion deficit this year, the largest in provincial history, after successive years of process layered on unfinished title, sequential reviews, and DRIPA overlays that treat delay as virtue. That is the open file you are asking voters to extend. The interest alone is projected at $6.4 billion annually. That is the number already on the page. Your party’s answer has been higher taxes on the top brackets, a temporary fuel-tax cut, and another confidential cabinet briefing that committed roughly 400 parcels of Crown land with no published list or combined hectares. Land nobody can see on a map cannot be financed or voted on. Publish the parcels and the size before 24 October or stop scoring other people’s arithmetic.
Doerkson’s stated position is no new taxes, a higher basic personal exemption, and expanded LNG. Whether that closes is measurable after the election by whether projects are financed twice under one register a third party can underwrite. Your alternative is the same operating system that has already delivered the current deficit, stalled energy and mining files, and the productivity gap versus the United States. Canadian labour productivity rose 26.7 percent from 1999 to 2025 while the American series rose 67.9 percent. Business investment per worker fell from nearly 90 cents on the U.S. dollar to 54 cents. More than $670 billion in energy, mining and infrastructure remains stalled or cancelled behind unfinished title and duty-to-consult architecture. Those numbers did not appear because the Conservatives lacked a detailed costing of every campaign promise. They appeared under the government you are defending.
Demanding an itemized cut list from the opposition while the government keeps Cabinet confidences on land transfers and treats the open file as the product is not accountability. It is process institutionalism. The test is binary and dated: either the sequence closes on documented evidence under rules a banker and a builder can read, or the institution keeps drawing its ration from the unfinished status. British Columbians start voting tomorrow. Score the actual deficit, the unpublished parcels, and the corridors that never got a second signature. Production before process. Capacity before jurisdiction. Citizens first. Canada First.
Precision over propaganda. Evidence over excuses.

George Orwell Would Have a Field Day in Canada Today
George Orwell understood something politicians would rather we forget: control the language and you can influence how people think.
Look at Canadian politics.
Borrowed money becomes an “investment.”
More government spending becomes “compassion.”
Preferential treatment becomes “equity.”
Political disagreement becomes “division.”
Unpopular opinions become “misinformation.”
Government failures become excuses for expanding government authority.
And when citizens question the official narrative, too often the response is to attack their motives rather than answer their arguments.
Orwell warned us about political language designed to conceal reality rather than explain it.
Our media should be challenging that language, especially publicly funded broadcasters such as the CBC. Journalism should hold government accountable, regardless of which party holds power.
Canada is not Orwell’s 1984. We still have democratic elections, independent courts, and freedom to criticize our government. Those distinctions matter.
But democracy requires more than the right to vote every few years. It requires citizens willing to question authority, demand evidence, and reject political double standards.
I don’t care whether it’s Liberal, Conservative, or NDP. Apply the same standards to everyone.
Orwell’s lesson is simple: When politicians change the meaning of words, citizens need to pay closer attention to the facts.
A government that cannot defend its policies without manipulating language deserves more scrutiny, not more trust.
Think for yourself. Question authority. Demand evidence.
That’s how you keep a free country free.

Brilliant in its clarity and forth rightness. Bravo.
Dr. Sabine Hazan has run hundreds of clinical trials for pharma and helped bring biologics, antibiotics and vaccines to market.
Then she studied COVID in the gut, and her papers started disappearing.
→ First lab to sequence whole-genome COVID from patients’ stool (Gut Pathogens, 2021). Passed 6 months of peer review. Retracted May 2025.
→ Ivermectin-based therapy in severely hypoxic patients (2022). 8 months of review. Retracted March 2025.
→ HCQ + azithromycin cardiac safety: Holter monitors on patients, no QT prolongation found (Dec 2024). Retracted Feb 2025.
→ Even a hypothesis paper got retracted. A hypothesis.
She says the original peer reviewers weren’t even notified. She says the main critic is a non-physician who holds microbiome patents.
Meanwhile her microbiome work won 4 straight research awards at the American College of Gastroenterology.
This is what should worry everyone, whatever you think of ivermectin: if a paper can pass peer review and be pulled years later without a clear public reason, peer review means nothing.
She ended her Senate testimony with this: “We’re all going to be patients.”

For decades, Canada has been seen as a 'model nation', internationally renowned for its high standard of living, safety & friendliness. 🇨🇦
Recently, it's been making headlines for the wrong reasons. Unaffordability, homelessness & addiction, rising crime, and a healthcare system so stretched that thousands are dying as they await treatment.
'Broken Country' is a new documentary that explores what went wrong in Canada, and what can be done.

Well, well, well…..Carney announces a $2B program to retrofit 1 million single-family homes and multi-family buildings with heat pumps “to help Canadians lower their energy costs”. And they will be manufactured and installed by Trane and Enercare, both owned directly by Brookfield Asset Management, of which Carney’s Global Transition Fund 1 will get a cut thereby increasing the value of Carney’s Brookfield investments. On top of that, the PM is also a direct shareholder of Trane, Enercare and Smithfield Electronics, another company invested in the installation and configuration of heat pumps, and so will benefit even more.
I don’t know about you, but that sure sounds like a pretty blatant conflict of interest, not to mention blatant personal enrichment of the Prime Minister. There was a time, not very long ago that this sort of thing made national headlines and spelled the end of someone’s political career. But we haven’t heard so much as a peep from CBC, Radio Canada, CTV, the Globe and Mail, etc.
Then there was the announcement that his wife will be the new Oceans Envoy followed closely by a second announcement of a $1.2B government investment in further monitoring and protecting Canada’s Oceans. And of course, who can forget the $90B Alto Rail project - latest estimated cost is now a minimum $113B - that Francois-Philippe Champagne announced was a go with his wife serving as one of the vice-presidents and who was among the 18 executives who recently split $1.2M in “performance bonuses” for a project that has yet to accomplish anything.
Anyone else seeing a trend here? Where is the outrage from the Liberal supporters?
This paragraph from the Blacklock’s article tells you everything that you need to know about the state of politics in the Liberal Party. It’s quite a party for them and it is on your dime!

Carney claims he just got into the Prime Ministerial role, despite being elected 18 months ago.
Carney vows he will continue to fix the very mess so many of his fellow Liberal MPs created, over an 11 year span.

Finally here is a list of climate related salaries where the top roles are making over $150k/yr and top spots almost reaching $300k.
Calgarians are on the streets, using food banks and trying to survive to support these lavish positions. And are being forced to sacrifice more. What is Jeromy doing to right the wrongs of his organization? What accountability does the city have?
We are useful idiots, because we let these con artists rob us blind for substandard service.
Jeromy needs to go. He decieved us with his illusion of integrity, and honesty; abandoning his platform as soon as he was elected.
