There's a whole process that happens after you hit "Apply" that nobody talks about. Who screens your CV, what they look for in the first 10 seconds, why some portfolios get opened and others don't.
Jamie Gutierrez has spent 15+ years hiring designers, engineers, and product people at Adidas, Frog Design, Publicis Sapient, and Accenture. She started as a designer before crossing over to recruiting, so she knows what gets lost in translation between what candidates think matters and what actually does.
On March 19th at 6 PM CET, she's joining us for a live AMA. How hiring works behind the scenes, what makes a recruiter open your application, and what makes a good first impression. This is an opportunity to ask a recruiter what's actually going on behind the scenes and get an answer.
Free and open to everyone.

Every good product starts with understanding real people. That's why our Collabsprint teams don't build from assumptions. They go out and do the research first.
Right now, one of our teams is exploring how professionals build and maintain their identity online. Where do you send people who want to learn more about you? How deliberate are you about your online presence?
If you've got 2 minutes, your perspective would genuinely help shape what they build:

Your first job matters more than the salary.
Most people optimize for pay or brand name. But the job that actually develops you has different traits: you ship regularly, your work is visible, you work across teams.
This rarely happens at the biggest companies with the highest salaries. It happens at places growing fast where they need you to contribute, not just execute.
Choose for what you'll learn in the first two years. It compounds.

Collabsprint vs bootcamps: what's different?
Bootcamps teach you the craft - tools, frameworks, processes. You build portfolio projects. That's useful, but it's only part of what you need.
Collabsprint focuses on what most programs skip: how to work with people who think completely differently than you do.
8 weeks. Cross-functional teams. Designers, PMs, engineers, data professionals. You plan, build, and ship real products together. Not solo portfolio projects, but collaborative work where you navigate
different perspectives and make trade-offs as a team.
Guided by mentors from leading product teams who help you work through actual challenges.
This isn't a replacement for learning your craft. It's what comes after.
First cohort is free and selective. Applications close January 5, 2026.

One thing I've noticed working with early-career designers and engineers is they know their tools really well but they find it really hard to explain their decisions to people outside their
discipline.
A designer can walk you through their Figma file but struggles when an engineer asks why they chose this interaction pattern over another. An engineer can explain their code architecture but freezes
when a PM asks about the business trade-off.
This isn't a skill gap, it's an experience gap. You learn how to translate your thinking across disciplines by actually doing it repeatedly with real stakes involved.
That's what participants will be doing in @collabsprint for 8 weeks - building products with people who think completely differently than they do.

The hardest thing about breaking into tech isn't learning your craft, it's that almost everything teaches you to work alone when the actual job is about building with people who think completely
differently than you do.
I've experienced this firsthand and seen it as a mentor. Talented designers, PMs, and engineers who know their craft but struggle to get opportunities because they lack cross-functional experience.
That's why I'm launching @collabsprint with mentors from Google, Microsoft, Miro, and other leading product teams. 8 weeks, cross-functional teams, shipping something real. This is not a course or bootcamp, just the experience most people don't get until they're already hired.
If you're early in your career and know your craft but need that environment where you can actually build with people from other disciplines, this is for you.

Applications are now open for Collabsprint's first cohort 🚀
Collabsprint exists to bridge the gap between knowing your craft and knowing how to build with others. Here's what you need to know about the program 🧵
Many early-career professionals understand the theory, but few get to experience how real product development works. Over 8 weeks, participants join cross-functional teams of designers, PMs, and
engineers to plan, build, and ship real products with guidance from experienced mentors at leading product companies.
It's not a bootcamp or a course. It's hands-on product work that mirrors the way modern product teams operate. Participants work through real constraints, make trade-offs as a team, and ship something
meaningful. Our mission is to make that experience accessible, structured, and collaborative.
The first cohort is free and selective. Applications close January 5, 2026.
