🎉 Happy 5th Birthday, Equipped for Learning! The team spent today and will be right here tomorrow in Midlothian celebrating five amazing years. Today, we were excited to connect with Midlothian Council and partners from across Scotland’s local authorities. We were delighted to contribute to today’s insightful discussions. A huge thank you to Colin, our Head of Safer Schools, who facilitated three engaging workshops throughout the day. The team is excited to see what tomorrow’s session brings! #EquippedForLearning #Midlothian #Education

Critical messages from those who suffered in faith based settings. Listen, learn and be an advocate for change. #CofE #SafeguardingAudits
Year 2 of our Independent Safeguarding Audit of Church of England Dioceses and Cathedrals heard clearly from victims and survivors about where the Church still falls short, and made recommendations to change it. I want to thank everyone in the @ineqegroup Safeguarding Audit Team for the hard work they undertook, leading to the publication of its second Annual Report on our Independent Safeguarding Audits of the @churchofengland. It highlights what’s working well, what could and should be strengthened, and why, as well as inhibitors to progress. Two companion documents bring critical focus on lessons learnt re victims and survivors, and safeguarding choristers.
Scaling Up Independent Oversight of the Church of England: The 2025 Safeguarding Audit Annual Report is now live. Independent scrutiny is vital to building safer communities. Following the completion of Audits in dioceses and cathedrals in 2024, the INEQE Safeguarding Group has continued its rigorous assessment of Church of England safeguarding arrangements throughout 2025. This year's report is accompanied by two companion documents on Victim & Survivor Engagement and Support, and Chorister Safeguarding. As our Lead Auditor Jim Gamble QPM puts it: "Independent scrutiny and mechanisms to hold those responsible for the safety of others to account is absolutely critical."
