This is dreadful & was preventable. ~20-30% with Covid have a degree of cognitive impairment after. This isn't brain fog. It's brain damage.

Normalize this. There will be no “off-ramp” for years to come. Until better vaccinations and buildings with better air ventilation & purification, you’d be better off adapting to a daily respirator.
Doing business with a mask. I know it‘s surprising for many, but it works:). Keep on masking in style and stay healthy!

"N95 respirators give a much higher benefit than surgical masks". What an emotional rolly coasty that this statement is both refreshing to hear and oh my god we're four years into this.
New paper on Masks: Some claim scientific studies show masks don’t work, or that surgical masks are as good as N95s. Just released paper shows this claim is false. Masks work, and N95 respirators give a much higher benefit than surgical masks.1/

We just finished model updates for this week's COVID Forecast. By waste water or our model, daily infections in Canada are now as high/higher than prior Omicron peaks except Dec/21 wave. High risk people need shots ASAP, wear N95 masks, avoid non-essential indoor activities.

It's so hard to articulate this, and I keep failing. But the people downplaying the repercussions of Covid seem to be doing so on the basis that it's "respiratory" as if that makes it innocuous. But legionella and pneumonia are respiratory.

4th vid: There's no chance Tedros was saying an unrelated “military term” and didn't mean it was an airborne pathogen. But *why* retract? “Masking also prevents its spread. Sorry, I was brining up a painting term in this medical conversation. I meant to say: hand sanitizer.” /s
Replying to @BarryHunt008 @wef @WHO
The plan, and all those words from @DrMikeRyan count for nothing if you deliberately spread disinformation about the mode of transmission…. ….droplet precautions won’t stop a highly transmissible AIRBORNE pathogen 🤦🏻

Only in Toronto would its former police chief be tapped for *drum roll* real estate development advice. 🤣 … and only in 🇨🇦 could a gov pay $171k for that advice, have no record of any advice, and zero consequences for anyone. – at Toronto, Ontario
The Ford government paid Mark Saunders $171,000 to be a special advisor on Ontario Place development, but there is no record of any of his work. An FOI request for any copies of advice or reports during his time in the role found “no records exist.” Story: toronto.citynews.ca/video/20…

Your plan is to bulldoze & privatize a park, instead of keeping it fully public and improving what already exists; to shoehorn in a massive indoor spa that any other city would place far outside the core; and to needlessly demolish and relocate a landmark cultural institution.
Friends, we're working hard to build a waterfront where families from across the province can come and enjoy parks, restaurants, and cultural events. Thank you to our great partners for joining us in our plan to revitalize and improve Toronto's waterfront.

Still preprint, but it states that "An increasing number of reports suggest an association between COVID-19 infection and initiation or acceleration of neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). Both these diseases and several other NDs are caused by conversion of human proteins into a misfolded, aggregated amyloid fibril state.. our data suggest that cross-seeding by Spike-amyloid fibrils can be implicated in the increasing number of reports of CJD, AD, and possibly other NDs in the wake of COVID-19." biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Herein lies the problem. ID / PH Paraphrase: "I'm in charge but I don't know how to deal with this so I'll just panic & pretend the problem is something else that I can live with & the rest of the world will just have to suffer thru my inadequacy 'cuz I'm the one in charge".
Understanding the science of transmission allows a rational response to AIRBORNE pathogen mitigation. So important for WHO to move beyond outdated ID/IPAC droplet based dogma.

“Wear a mask” is the #2 reco in this same list on their website but has been selectively removed in all promo material. They seem to want to be able to say “we told you” without telling you. But… why? "wear a tight-fitting, well-constructed mask in indoor public settings…"
This fall, take steps to reduce your risk of infection from #RespiratoryIllness: - stay up to date with your #COVID19 vaccines and #FluShot - stay home when you feel sick - wash your hands often - cover your mouth with your arm when you cough/sneeze ontario.ca/page/protection-c…

You know what the difference is between this and the Great Barrington Declaration? Both had professional authors with scientific training… But the JSP Paradigm comes with 66 references, including many peer-reviewed studies. GBD had none. johnsnowproject.org/insights…
