*State* imposes restrictions and shut-downs, but *protesters* are allegedly responsible for business losses — in most courts, if you tried to make such an absurd argument, you’d be laughed out of the room. However…
Supreme Court hears a plea concerning restrictions on traders and hawkers in Connaught Place, Delhi.
Justice Joymalya Bagchi observes that "someone wants to sell moongfali, someone wants to exercise the right to protest, while others seek maintenance of law and order". All such matters are before the Court.
The Bench acknowledges the livelihood concerns of small traders during the festive season and says constitutional remedies, including public law compensation, are available in cases of unlawful State action.

We did the bare minimum in solidarity with lawyers attacked by Delhi Police. We observed a minute’s silence when we should have been rising in rage. Perhaps we were mourning the death of the bar’s spine and courage.

All lawyers who hold a Bar ID take the oath to uphold the Constitution of India and the Rule of Law.
Today, in this undeclared emergency, that oath is put to test. Every person who holds a Bar ID has to fight to protect the civil liberties of our citizens. It is non-negotiable.

From the lawns of india gate, to boat club, to jantar mantar, each govt progressively threw citizens away from parliament - where our own representatives sit. Now citizens have been thrown out of new delhi altogether. Angrez chale gaye lekin …
a constitutional court repeatedly calling upon CITIZENS to keep their protest peaceful when all evidence points to en masse brutalization of those protesting—REPEATEDLY TAKING THE STATE'S ASSURANCE AT FACE VALUE DESPITE OVERWHELMING INFORMATION SAYING OTHERWISE
Replying to @barandbench
Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan: Absolutely. But what is happening is that private hooligans are not being detained or stopped. They are carrying lathis.
They have repeatedly hit children on the head. They have put out videos afterwards, which I will show the Court tomorrow, where they are proudly saying that they have done this. The police do nothing. We are repeatedly told to restrain ourselves. I do not know what we have done that requires us to restrain ourselves. I am shocked. I have never seen a senior advocate being dragged through the streets.
Two more were detained in buses, Mr Dwivedi and Ms Uttara Babbar.
It is extremely sad. At some point, the Bench must come to the rescue of the Bar and the citizens of this country and send a strong message to the police. They keep sitting there and doing nothing because the police think they can get away with anything. The matter may be listed tomorrow.

between the time a protester is unlawfully & violently detained in a bus and released after hours, a colossal amount of work goes into providing legal, medical, transport, financial support. that labour is entirely being done by citizen networks at the moment. extraordinary.

A Delhi Policeman makes a carefully preplanned attempt to fondle Ms.Neha Bora's breasts during the Delhi Protest. He aims for her breasts with his palms, squeezes them, & pretends as if it was accidental. If this happens to a national leader with crores of followers with all major TV cameras recording, what protection does a young Indian lady have while entering public spaces/transport?

Shadaan's brilliance is only exceeded by his courage. The best of the bar. Shame on the Delhi Police.
He is a senior advocate of Supreme Court - taken away by #DelhiPolice like this as surprise protest erupts. Location south delhi flyover. Several detained

Could at least have avoided generating this through ChatGPT.
In an open letter, 42 former judges have expressed grave concern over attempts to undermine the Election Commission, judiciary and other constitutional institutions.
The signatories have questioned allegations of “vote theft” without supporting evidence, warning that repeatedly branding constitutional authorities as “thieves” and “compromised” risks eroding public trust in democracy.
“Criticism of institutions is a democratic right. Denigration is not,” the letter states.
