Tried to book a hotel with Muse last night. Hilton's site put my agent in a doom loop — third retry, I gave up and booked it myself. That's not a bug. That's the whole story of agentic commerce right now. This week on More or Less (Jessica's out — three VCs, zero adult supervision): — My take: MCP and these agent 'protocols' are irrelevant. It's all just APIs. Machines can either reach your service or they can't. The real fight is business and politics: if you let agents intermediate you, the market becomes perfectly efficient and your business is worthless. Hilton gets this. Amazon gets this. — Dave's counter: there's a difference between a platform inserting itself into your life and a tool YOU send on your behalf. Are we building agents, or building agency? — Meta and Microsoft just halved their Claude usage. Claude must be so lonely. — The future isn't standards, it's treaties. I registered agenttreatyframework.com before we finished recording.

@grok Is this similar to the vision of an open web with APIs or social, where walled gardens evolve? What are similar eras in tech?

.@Sonderling47: "I am hereby suspending from the Permanent Labor Certification Program some of the largest IT outsourcing firms in the world — Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL, and Capgemini — and also, due to multiple active federal investigations, @USDOL is suspending Microsoft and Adobe from the program."
.@VP: "There has been no company in the United States, unfortunately, that has abused this system more than Microsoft." Microsoft laid off 6,000 American workers in 2025 after certifying that it could not find qualified American employees — yet the company was approved for more than 6,000 H-1Bs and filed 3,682 PERM applications, including nearly 1,000 applications for the same positions as the laid off American workers.

People like Tyler are probably the #1 reason why I hate YIMBYs. Taxing grandma out of her home won’t even begin to solve California’s problems.
Prop 13 is probably the #1 reason for the affordability and housing issues in California. We must abolish it.

No, I just don’t think grandma should be your revenue stream.

Such a cheap trick pretending that prop 13 is about saving grandmom when people have a dozen rentals, it could be passed down in trusts, and it applies to commercial. Modern feudalism and pure greed.

as expected, welcome to commodification every company I know has set token spend limits and defaults to the cheapest model, and all are looking to move away to open source or the cheapest option. the revenue growth we've see for the original incumbents has already peaked
Even spend to Anthropic has dropped from 75% to 42%.

🚨BREAKING: Jensen Huang just EXPOSED Dario and Altman’s "Rogue AI" grift to avoid getting sued into oblivion under EXISTING law ā€œDon't let this doomsday narrative cause somebody to relieve them of the laws that currently exist. Go and read between the lines. They're actually not asking for more laws; they're asking to be relieved of the laws we do have.ā€ ABSOLUTE TRUTH NUKE

OpenAI and Anthropic are becoming the electricity. Important, but hard to differentiate. They are trying to form their electic monopoly and don't want cheap electricity from China.

The only conceivable path back to parity with China in weapons production requires the development of a globally competitive American civilian electronics industry that we can turn over to war production if the need arises Before and after mobilization it must pay for itself

Agreed. But we also have nukes. Near peer wars will go nuclear (China, Russia, EU, US). So drones are for proxy wars (Ukraine, Iran).

AI AGENTS VS. COMPUTERS Steve Jobs said that after seeing the Graphical User Interface at Xerox PARC, he knew this would be the future of computing. He says it took him 10 minutes to realize it. Steve came from the world before color GUIs. Before the mouse was normal. By the time he died, computers had transformed how the world worked. Starting to wonder if AI agents could be as consequential as the GUI. The GUI made computers usable by ordinary people. You no longer had to learn commands. You pointed, clicked, dragged, and opened. It turned the computer from a specialist machine into a universal tool. In the new world, the Computers that Steve Jobs brought into the world start to recede into the background. The Agents come to the fore and they interact with you on the channel you prefer. The personal assistants we see today from Muse, Grok Bot, and Instinct are only the beginning. Personal drivers. (FSD already does this). Personal doctors. (Telehealth getting closer.) Personal concierges. (Instinct does this.) Personal wealth managers. (@lumidawealth is building this.) Personal fitness coaches. Personal tutors. Personal CFOs. The Agentic world is where an AI knows your goals, has access to the right tools, and does work on your behalf. The change is coming fast. The current tools are still abysmally slow (not enough compute). Jobs saw the computer go from a hobbyist machine to the center of modern life over his lifetime. What took two decades in the age of the GUI may take a few years in the age of AI. There's a real chance that agents are a bigger deal than the modern computer.
I played Steve Jobs ā€˜Connecting the Dots’ speech for my kids again today. They are way too young to understand it. But, they will remember one day when I am not around that Dad played it for them many times.

"small potatoes"
JUST IN: President Trump agrees with VP JD Vance in refusing to call the months-long U.S. military action in Iran a war, instead calling it a "military conflict" and describing the whole thing as "small potatoes" to the United States. "Well, I'll tell you what. A lot of people don't call it a war. I call it a military conflict because it's small potatoes for us. It's not a big thing."

In order to get out us of this war before it gets even worse, Trump has to focus on the two main things: 1) Restraining Israel: tell Bibi ā€œnoā€. Ignore the Pickaxe Mountain bait—stop chasing the nuclear dust, that’s a perpetual trap. Demand that Israel withdraw from Lebanon, otherwise we will cut off all U.S. military aid. Remember—Israel got us into this mess, that has been confirmed. Don’t keep falling for their ploys to escalate. 2) Opening the straits: SOH & BAM. First, get our troops out of the region. Then use diplomacy & economic incentives to get the oil flowing again. Ignore the hype that our sanctions are going to bring down the regime—Iran is not going to crumble from economic suffering. The pain they can inflict by weaponizing the SOH is far greater than the pain we can by imposing more sanctions. Trump needs to take advantage of this rapidly-closing window of opportunity and leave now, while he still can. In doing so, he’ll have pulled us out of the region and redirected all focus back on issues affecting Americans here at home. That is a win. If we resume strikes, we’ll end up escalating into an all-out war with boots on the ground, resulting in catastrophic losses to American lives and resources, and crippling the economy—Trump won’t be able to come back from that.
POTUS has a very small window of opportunity to act in the best interest of our country and still retain public support: pull our troops out of the region, walk away now, control the messaging like only he can and declare victory. This opportunity is fleeting—if he escalates or even stagnates as things stand now, we risk a mass casualty event, the Iranians & Houthis causing a major economic crisis, or worse: both.

Now that the US is knocked out, I am formally extending an invitation to the American people to support Norway. Why? 1: The Vikings discovered America before Columbus. 2: There are more ethnic Norwegians in the US than in Norway. 3: Next weekend we can pillage the English peasants together. 4:

holy fuck, a hair dryer at a Paris airport broke Polymarket weather markets & made someone $34,000 richer - polymarket was settling Paris temperature bets on a single Météo France sensor sitting near the Charles de Gaulle runway perimeter - basically unguarded - the guy bought the long-shot outcome (like "22°C" when everyone expected 18°C) for pennies, since nobody thought it'd hit - then he walked up to the probe and briefly heated the air around it with a portable heat source, spiking the reading just long enough to register as the daily max - temperature snapped back to normal in minutes, the market resolved in his favor, and he cashed out - twice, on April 6 and April 15, before Météo France caught on and filed charges hyperstitions.
