Hey React Native devs 👋
I recently built a very cool app with React Native Expo—it’s amazing how powerful and easy it is! 🚀
Everything you can do with React Native CLI, you can do with Expo too. If you haven’t tried it yet, now’s the time!
#buildinpublic @expo @reactnative
I built an Expo Router Auth Starter Kit.
The idea is simple: when starting a new Expo app, auth can quickly become more complicated than expected, especially when you need more than just login/signup.
So I created this as a foundation that anyone can use for a new app or product idea.
This starter kit includes:
- Email/password auth
- Google login
- Apple Sign-In
- Face ID / biometric app lock
- Account deletion
- Session handling
- PostgreSQL Database
- Protected API requests
- Public API requests
- Light/dark theme support
Built with @expo Router, @better_auth, @DrizzleORM, @resend, and TanStack Query.
I made this mainly for anyone who wants to start building their actual app without spending days setting up the basic auth foundation first.
It also includes some of the important flows real apps usually need, like account deletion and session handling, which are easy to ignore in simple auth demos but important when preparing an app for production or app store submission.
I also recorded a YouTube walkthrough where I demo the app and explain how everything is connected.

Route groups in @expo Router are one of those features that look unnecessary…
until your app has separate auth, onboarding, and main-app flows.
Then the parentheses suddenly make perfect sense 😅
A nice UI does not mean your app has a good structure.
That’s the problem with a lot of AI-generated apps.
So I created an @expo Router starter structure that keeps things clean, scalable, and easier to maintain by using:
✅ Route groups
🔐 Auth flow
📱 Native tabs
🧩 Reusable UI components
🎨 Theme system
🌍 i18n
💾 Storage
📦 Feature modules

I ended up recording the full tutorial for this.
This started as a small @expo Router experiment with react-native-screen-transitions by @trpfsu, and after tuning the transitions, it became something I’d actually use in a real app.
If your React Native app already looks good but navigation still feels basic, try this!

Fair feedback honestly.
The first version had too much jank, so I went back and cleaned up the transitions, gestures, sheets, and dismiss animations.
This feels a lot closer to what I wanted from the start.
Building apps has become so much easier now.
With Expo Router and AI tools, you can build and ship apps in days instead of spending months.
I recently built Genos AI this way, and it made me realize how much faster app development has become.
Big thanks to the @expo team for making this experience so smooth 🙌
But I feel the real challenge today is how you market it, share it with the right people, and actually get users to try it.
For those of you building apps, what tools, platforms, or strategies have helped you the most when it comes to marketing your app and reaching real users?

💅 Expo UI is now stable in SDK 56.
One import from @expo/ui gives you SwiftUI on iOS and Jetpack Compose on Android. Real platform components underneath.
Drop-in replacements for 7 common community packages are in there too. Worth thinning out your package.json this week.
Full blog with details about getting started below ↓
Expo SDK 56 is out 🙌
◆ Expo UI is stable on iOS and Android
◆ iOS builds 16% faster, plus another 20% on EAS from precompiled community libs
◆ Android cold starts 40% faster
◆ Expo Router decoupled from React Navigation
◆ Inline native modules: write Swift and Kotlin right next to your TypeScript
◆ Hermes v1 by default
◆ Bytecode diffing on by default (~58% smaller OTA updates)
◆ iOS Widgets stable
◆ React Native 0.85 + React 19.2
It's been two months since SDK 55, and we packed in everything we could fit. Your iOS build times are going to thank you. Full changelog ↓
Cool 👌
Just open-sourced react-native-skia-lab 🎨
A collection of beautiful demos built with @ReactNativeSkia and @expo
Last year, my solo-built app won the Most Creative App category at the Expo App Awards.
If you're looking for a mobile design engineer who genuinely cares about crafting beautiful products and experiences, let's talk.

Codex improved my productivity 10x
Built an AI wardrobe app using Gemini + Codex + @expo Router
What it does:
• Try preset outfits on your photo
• Upload your own clothing reference
• Generate new looks with AI
• Clean, simple UI
Also made a YouTube tutorial on building this app. Its not the usual one giant prompt like "build a facebook clone" 😅
It’s about the real workflow, how to actually use AI coding tools efficiently and build proper apps step by step.
