As a company from eastern Germany, we know that building a wall to try and keep people from leaving isn't a good idea.

I just came across this interesting project @codeberg_org which is a non-profit and community driven GitHub alternative. This makes for an interesting collaboration platform amidst the GitHub Copilot controversy. Interesting and well done!

My @debian book project should have been on @codeberg_org for a long time — and it has been. I used to commit to both Codeberg and @github. Now I'm committing to Codeberg only, starting with the new LaTex branch (soon to be Main):

The config for committing to two remote repos was kind of brittle, and it all went south when changed from Master to Main. After that, my occasional commits went to @github. Today I updated the @codeberg_org repository and will continue the work there.

There's a little script I had originally written years ago and that I kept migrating when switching laptops. It notifies you when your tea is done.
I seem to remember @phi_byte liking it, so I put it up on @codeberg_org now for others to maybe enjoy too!

I finally opened an account on @codeberg_org - happy to try out an option that is community driven, non-profit, and free + open source.
I had not heard of Codeberg until joining mastodon.technology - so for all you Twitter folks, this may be a TIL moment. :)
