New Blog: Towards the Agentic Era of Video Understanding For complex tasks, agents have become the default. Nobody uses chat mode for that work anymore: people hand it to Claude Code, Codex or Antigravity (yes sometimes🤣), which open files, run commands and check their own results. We think video understanding should benefit from this too. So we are releasing Video-Index 1.1 with an agentic evaluation setup (which should be by default!). more in the threads🧵

github.com/Ephemeral-AI-Lab/…

Autoresearch with coding agents can now run for days on a single problem, but we've seen an increasing number of cases where they stop improving early. We address this issue with a simple idea: forgetting. Introducing our new paper: "Scaling Discovery Requires Forgetting"

How Do People Churn Out RSI Papers? An Unconventional Survey We’ve published an unconventional survey of RSI that tackles a much-discussed question head-on: there seem to be quite a few “filler” papers in RSI these days. Where do people get their ideas for them, and how can we follow their lead to churn out papers of our own? We offer two approaches: combining different design dimensions, and borrowing from traditional deep learning. First, we noticed that many RSI methods share similar underlying ideas, differing mainly in design choices such as what to change, how often to change it, and what feedback to use. We therefore developed a nine-dimensional taxonomy to systematically capture the commonalities and differences across method designs. All methods can be viewed as combinations of choices across these dimensions. From there, finding a new combination means finding a new idea. The other approach is to rummage through the deep learning toolbox and see what can be brought over to RSI. Some RSI methods are already borrowing from deep learning: SkillAdam, for example, draws on the Adam optimizer to guide skill revision, while RRSI uses regularization to constrain the evolution of agent code. Familiar tools such as optimizers, regularization, and curriculum learning could all become the starting point for a new paper when transplanted into RSI. We’ve compiled the relevant papers and their classifications on the Awesome RSI website, where you can browse and filter them by design dimension. Come find some inspiration, and feel free to submit a PR to the GitHub repository to add great RSI papers! arXiv: arxiv.org/abs/2610.14625 Website: prism-shadow.github.io/aweso… GitHub: github.com/Prism-Shadow/awes… Zhihu: zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/2093754… Finally, we wish you all enough “filler” papers to graduate soon, so you can go do what you truly love. Disclaimer Expressions used in this post, including “filler,” “filler papers,” “churning out papers,” and “following their lead,” are informal, self-deprecating academic banter. They do not constitute a quality assessment of any specific paper, author, research group, institution, conference, journal, reviewer, research area, or any affiliated WeChat group. We are not saying that all RSI papers are filler, nor that RSI is a field of filler papers, nor that everyone working on RSI is just churning them out. In fact, the authors of this post are also working on RSI and have just published an RSI survey themselves, so any interpretation that somehow exempts us entirely from this criticism would be an overly charitable misreading. We acknowledge that RSI is an important, promising research direction that deserves serious study… (another 100 million tokens omitted).

We'll be spending a lot more time trying to understand the outputs of language models. A few thoughts, tips & tricks: Writing. Something I've had success with: Ask your LLM to explain something in ASD-STE100, it's a controlled language specification originally developed for aerospace maintenance documentation. LLMs well-versed in this language and it comes with heavy constraints on clean writing style that I often find a lot more readable. Sometimes I've tried to soften it a bit e.g. ask for "80% of the way to ASD-STE100" because the spec is quite stringent. But even better: Diagrams / images. Instead of writing, ask your LLM to create a diagram. These can be a lot easier to process, parse, and understand. But even better: Web pages. Ask for output "in HTML" to get a beautiful, interactive webpage. LLMs are getting really good at frontend and can create beautiful experiences, animations, etc. But even better: Explainer videos. The output format I am most bullish on is fully custom / bespoke explainer videos generated on any arbitrary topic. Experiment with things like "Create a 3b1b style video explainer on X. Use my ElevenLabs API key for audio narration". (you'd need an API key for the latter or you can ask your LLM to find you decent free alternatives that use your local compute). This is actually starting to work! In summary: - As LLMs get better, they will do more and more of the legwork autonomously, and a lot more of our work will rise up the abstractions into oversight and understanding. - Luckily, LLMs can help here too because as intelligence and code are increasingly abundant, you can ask for large, custom, discardable software artifacts (e.g. web apps, video explainers) that would have never made sense to create before. Push the boundaries here and you'll be surprised.

Hello~ It's the author for this ‘dsh-context’ plugin here~ 感谢推介和使用!
What’s actually filling up your agent’s context window? dsh-context brings token usage, compaction events, tool outputs, file changes, and multi-agent activity into one comprehensive dashboard. If you use DeepSeek Harness, it should be one of the first plugins you install. GitHub link: github.com/bowenliang123/dsh…

Hi Guys,LayerFS v0.1.0 is offcially open-sourced :tada: LayerFS is a content-addressed filesystem storage engine designed for multi-agent workloads. Built on SQLite, CAS, CDC, COW, and zero-copy branching, it lets every agent quickly create an isolated, ephemeral Workspace while recording filesystem changes per tool call. Useful states can be committed, forked, rolled back, and reused—making LayerFS suitable for parallel development, RL/MCTS rollouts, environment engineering, and RSI experiments. The project is still in an experimental phase, so we welcome everyone to try it, report issues, and contribute through Issues and PRs  If you find the direction valuable, we would really appreciate your support: - Like, repost, and follow us on X: xitter.cf/yifanxu_ephai - Star the GitHub repository, open an Issue, or contribute a PR: github.com/Ephemeral-AI-Lab/… Every Star, piece of feedback, and contribution will help LayerFS become stronger infrastructure for agent runtimes. Thank you for your support! :rocket:
AI agent workspaces can be disposable; valuable state shouldn’t be. LayerFS creates isolated, ephemeral filesystems from shared history: CAS reuses identical objects, CDC keeps edits local, and COW rebuilds only changed paths.

Can AI autonomously align other AIs? We built an agentic harness to wrap an AI (Claude Opus 4.8) as an automated alignment researcher and gave it 2 days to improve the alignment of other AIs. It did research, proposed methods, then trained and tested the models all on its own. It worked really well. More interesting findings in the🧵
