Wasn't this the same guy who promised he wouldn't tax his way out of the deficit? Vote YES on I-645 to repeal his income tax.
Fun reminder: Gov. Ferguson and the majority party will not stop increasing taxes until you put a stop to it. Vote Yes on I-645 and tell the legislature to control their spending. #waleg
"This was Gov. Bob Ferguson's first budget season as governor of Washington state. At a lengthy press conference, he fully acknowledged what he had said earlier in the year: the state could not tax its way out of this budget mess. But he and lawmakers will do exactly that, with $9 billion in new taxes that will affect everyday life and the price at the pump."

Meet Manka Dhingra
-she is the Deputy Majority Leader in the WA State Senate
-she is one of the prime sponsors of the unconstitutional income tax
-in fact on her campaign website until just earlier this year she asserted that a progressive income tax is unconstitutional
-which means she knows better
On this Kiro news clip she is asked if she is worried about people moving away
Her glib response it to compare the income tax to the fee increases for Amazon and Netflix
But both of those two services offered better service with their fee increases… WA state since Dhingra was elected to the Senate has doubled the amount of money it takes from taxpayers but watched schools, roads, bridges, public safety, the ferry system all decline while crime, cost, traffic, homelessness have gotten much worse.
Maybe maybe if they were providing better services their unconstitutional income tax might have a leg to stand on but you be the judge. Have they made things better while spending twice as much money?

Big win for local voters.
A Thurston County judge ruled Friday that the Legislature cannot empower a state commission to remove a duly elected sheriff. The law is Senate Bill 5974, which Gov. Ferguson signed in April.
Pierce County Sheriff Keith Swank, who attended the hearing, called it a victory for the rule of law and the Constitution.
Sheriffs are elected by YOU. Olympia doesn't get to fire them.
The state has appealed, and the written order hasn't been published yet.

🚨 #BreakingNews Judge rules Washington Legislature cannot empower commission to remove elected sheriff
A Thurston County Superior Court judge ruled Friday that the Legislature cannot empower a state commission to remove a duly elected sheriff, siding with opponents of a new law that ties the office to state certification.
Judge Christine Schaller issued the ruling after hearing arguments on Senate Bill 5974, Pierce County Sheriff Keith Swank said. Swank, who attended the hearing, said Schaller found that sheriffs are elected officials and should not be treated differently from other elected officials, and that sheriffs, like other politicians, have First Amendment rights. He also said she also found that the Legislature cannot empower the Criminal Justice Training Commission to remove a duly elected sheriff.
Sheriff Swank called the decision a victory for the rule of law and the Constitution. He said Schaller broke the ruling into sections and that he still needed to review it in full. No written order had been published, and the state had not commented, as of Friday afternoon.
Judge Schaller issued the preliminary injunction on April 29, one day before much of Second Substitute Senate Bill 5974 was set to take effect. The law, signed April 1 by Gov. Bob Ferguson, imposed new eligibility rules on sheriffs and tied their ability to remain in office to certification by the Criminal Justice Training Commission. Loss of that certification would have created a vacancy, allowing removal without a voter recall.
Before the bill, state law required sheriffs to complete basic training but did not clearly force an elected sheriff from office if that certification was later revoked.
The suit was brought by four eastern Washington sheriffs — Brad Manke of Stevens County, John Nowels of Spokane County, Glenn Blakeslee of Pend Oreille County and Ray Maycumber of Ferry County — represented by attorney Mark Lamb. The state has appealed. On May 5, a Washington Supreme Court commissioner denied the state’s request to stay the injunction, leaving the block in effect while the appeal proceeds.
Bill sponsor former Snohomish County Sheriff and current Sen. John Lovick, D-Mill Creek, said the measure simply applied the same certification rules already used for rank-and-file officers and police chiefs. Critics, including some Republican lawmakers, called it an effort to override local voters.
Friday’s ruling does not repeal Senate Bill 5974, but Judge Schaller's April 29 injunction keeps the state from using the challenged parts against elected sheriffs. This is reinforced by the WA State Supreme Court in May leaving the injunction in place.
The Legislature can pass a new bill striking Senate Bill 5974, or amending out the sheriff provisions, in a future session.

WA State made a Promise
17 years ago my business partners and I decided CA was not good for our employees or our business. We looked around for alternative solutions.
WA state came up on our radar with a promise directly on the State Department of Commerce Website.
“We offer businesses some competitive advantages found in few other states. These include no taxes on capital gains or personal or corporate income. We also offer industry-specific tax breakss to spur innovation and growth whenever possible.”
So we moved 40 families up to WA and established roots.
WA state’s economic success can absolutely be attributed to this business friendly approach that brought talent , technology, innovation, entrepreneurs, and jobs from all over the globe. I was thinking about this the other day wondering if I could find a screen shot of that promise the legislature has now trampled on. The interwebs are forever.
Vote Yes on I-645 To repeal the income tax and help Olympia keep the promise it made to thousands of businesses that chose Washington as their home.

Warning TLDR - Your Retirement Money has a Bullseye on it
Not Only Did Olympia Change the Law to Tax Your Retirement Account, But They Also Rewrote The Law So They Can Seize Your Retirement Money If You Don't Pay Your Taxes
Washington's new unconstitutional income tax bill (ESSB 6346) didn't just decide your pension/retirement check is now "income." It went into the old laws that said the state CANNOT tax your retirement money AND CANNOT seize it — and it deleted both protections. On purpose. Section by section. With Public Union support
The Actual Language (sample below is just one of the 11 pensions targeted)
Original Language
teachers' pension fund (TRS), RCW 41.32.052. Subsection (1) says your pension is exempt from state tax and "shall not be subject to execution, garnishment, attachment... or other process of law whatsoever."
Subsection (4), added this year:
"Subsection (1) of this section does not exempt any pension or other benefit received under this chapter from tax under Title 82A RCW." (The new income tax)
Translation: never mind all that. Not for this unconstitutional income tax.
And they didn't stop at teachers. They went down the list and did it to every plan:
• School employees (SERS)
• Teachers (TRS)
• Cops and firefighters (LEOFF)
• Volunteer firefighters
• State employees (PERS)
• Judges, troopers, the whole roster
• Don’t worry they also can attack your 401(k) and IRA too (RCW 6.15.020).
Jamie Pedersen and Bob Ferguson have a checklist with every fat juicy retirement account singled out
For context:
federal law (ERISA) generally keeps creditors' hands off your 401(k) — exceptions basically boil down to divorce, child support, and the IRS. Most states with an income tax just tax the check and leave the seizure protections alone. Washington did both. They made the pension taxable AND took the lock off the door.
Guess who's bankrolling the campaign to keep this law? The very unions whose members are sitting in these pension/retirement plans.
Per PDC filings :
• WEA — $2,000,000
• SEIU — $1,900,000
• WFSE — $1,000,000
• AFSME - $500,000
• NEA - $436,000
Teachers' union money, defending the law that put teachers' pensions on the collection list. WEA celebrated signing it. I'd love to see that internal memo. Oh wait….maybe they forgot to tell their members… who get screwed by the unions themselves take in more state money.

Brad Smith just called payroll taxes an existential threat to WA jobs. Minutes later, Jamie Pedersen told the room: either kill I-645 (our income tax repeal) or we might have to talk about that payroll tax again. Microsoft's response? A smile.
This is a shakedown by a criminal enterprise (don’t want to insult the mafia by comparing them to Jamie)
There is probably no more dangerous creature than a fundamentally weak man like Jamie who has been given enormous power…
I suspect Brad you are not doing microsoft, your employees, or the state any favors by your collaboration with your captors…. And while I am not a betting man i would put money on the fact that there is a very specific tax either payroll or corporate income with your name on it already in chamber….

Breaking — Shocking News— No One Saw this coming… The Seattle Times is backing the Public Unions and opposing our repeal of the unconstitutional income tax…..
For those keeping score at home:
-ST opposes protecting girls and girls sports
-ST opposes keeping parents informed
-ST supports an unconstitutional income tax
A brief recap of their own argument so you don’t have to waste your money on their useless pretenses and journalismings
1) even though, SB 6346 (the unconstitutional income tax) “failed on the Democrats’ promise to deliver sufficient tax relief to lower income”
2 even though democrat leaders “are charged with crafting a sensible budget to fund state services, including its K-12 school system, highway network and much more” but, since 2023 have “failed to carry out this critical role effectively”
3) even though “Under Democratic leadership, budget writers perennially have outspent tax revenues,”
4)even though state lawmakers have raided the rainy day fund “drawing down state reserves to the nation’s worst level.”
5) even though our state’s credit rating is in jeopardy because of Democrat lawmakers “relying on budget gimmicks and transfers”
6) even with “the state’s unemployment rate surging to the highest in the nation” (for good measure they clearly make this a buttrump moment)
7) even though “Some Washingtonians pack up and move to avoid paying it. “ people are leaving WA (they estimate it is slightly more than the number of boys taking girls spots in girls sports)
8) even though WA state has the “country’s third highest gas tax, second highest sales tax, and one of the few states with a business tax on gross receipts, Washington state is already a tax outlier”
One should not expect Democrat lawmakers to actually make spending cuts or budget priorities
Plus if they don’t implement an unconstitutional income tax, Democrats are sure to come back with even more taxes somewhere else (see point above that we absolutely in no way ever should consider spending restraints.
This is probably the most own-goal, incompetent, biased, union sock puppet editorial endorsement i have ever read in my life…,.
