The US will continue to have a gender pay gap until it fixes underlying structural problems like the economy's reliance on women doing unpaid or underpaid caregiving for children and older adults. We must give care work the value it deserves. apnews.com/article/gender-wa…

Lilly Ledbetter never got a dime from her pay discrimination case because Goodyear got it overturned by SCOTUS on a technicality. She made 35% less than male counterparts which left her with skimpier retirement & Social Security. Women today can relate. washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/…

In retirement, Lilly Ledbetter couldn't even afford repairs to her home. Yet she fought for gender pay transparency & equity until her passing. RIP Ms. Ledbetter @petulad

She was the first author. She was his collaborator on the paper that has been cited for the prize. This is what is Matilda Effect where women’a achievements are sidelined in favour of a man.
I am not sure why his wife Rosalind Lee didn’t share the Nobel Prize

Sadly, we still default to granting more respect to men than women. 8 studies: we're >2x as likely to call male politicians, athletes, teachers, and authors by their last names. It matters: surnames signal higher status. It's long past time to use consistent standards.

Gender promotion gap: Though women tend to outperform men, they are 13% less likely to be promoted. Instead of rewarding men's self-advocacy and requiring women to do the same, managers should recognize women's high potential @jdickler cnbc.com/2024/09/25/gender-p…

Did lockdowns "prematurely age" teenage girl's brains? Short answer: Probably not. Longer answer: the recent headlines are based on a study that couldn't and didn't have anything to do with lockdowns at all. My new piece: gidmk.substack.com/p/lockdow…

40% of working women have experienced sexual harassment, sexist jokes, obscene comments. Women under 30 were just as likely to have experienced sexual harassment as women over 30. Sadly, not much has changed. @aimeepicchi cbsnews.com/news/women-workp…

Study of children in grades K-3 finds beliefs that older girls would struggle on a STEM exam and men are more competent in STEM professions. Girls perceived STEM jobs as more difficult than non-STEM jobs; boys perceived them equally difficult. @kimelsesser forbes.com/sites/kimelsesser…

Men's median earnings rose at twice the rate of women's median earnings in part because men are overrepresented in high-wage jobs and women in low-wage jobs. It's not only being paid less for the same work; it's that class inequality and gender inequality are inseparable.
