🎙️But next-gen geothermal lacks the political focus and will needed to enable it to scale. VP @martinhojsik just launched a new Working Group for the Cleantech Friendship Group in the European Parliament, with the goal of making Europe a powerhouse for next-generation geothermal.
Europe’s flagship Innovation Fund has committed €11.6 billion to cleantech projects. Yet by mid-2025, only €332 million – 2.7% – had reached project promoters.
This is unsustainable and must change.
The Innovation Fund can be one of Europe’s most powerful tools for bringing clean technologies from demonstration to early commercial scale.
The ETS review is the moment to start making it fit for that task.
