Billions of cost to the uk to give away what is ours. And the people of Chagos ignored
🚨Labour presses on with Chagos handover despite Trump’s opposition
Defence Secretary Wes Streeting has confirmed negotiations will continue to transfer sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius while leasing back the joint US-UK base on Diego Garcia. After reviewing the issue “with a fresh pair of eyes”, he concluded a deal is still necessary to avoid legal uncertainty over the strategically vital facility.
The arrangement is set to cost £165 million a year for the first three years, then £120 million annually for the remaining 96 years. Critics put the long-term bill far higher. President Trump has repeatedly branded the proposal a “terrible deal”. Ministers previously indicated it could not proceed without American backing, yet Labour is now moving forward anyway. Paying rent on a base Britain already operates while handing away sovereign territory remains a hard sell.

🚨 UPDATE: The BBC has reportedly suspended its civil service secondment scheme following revelations that government employees helped write and fact-check news reports on controversial issues, including illegal immigration and Channel crossings.
The scheme saw 39 Whitehall officials placed inside BBC newsrooms over eight years, with some contributing to BBC News and BBC Verify coverage.
Suspending the scheme is nowhere near enough. The BBC must be held accountable, every article these officials contributed to should be independently reviewed, and those responsible must explain how this was allowed to happen.

We call on France to exercise restraint when dispersing the freedom fighters on the streets of Paris. These brave warriors for justice must receive immediate humanitarian aid, and their safety must be guaranteed in accordance with international law. Failure to comply will leave us no choice but to bring a case before the ICJ, in close cooperation with that renowned champion of human rights, Afghanistan.
