So, I wrote a book 😄 I have always been passionate about the Sumerian language, an isolate language spoken 5000 years ago in what is now Iraq and the first language ever written by humans. This is the language humans spoke when they invented activities the world had never seen before: agriculture, international trade, smithing, and writing. This year, I set out on a journey to create content to help people understand this language better; this book is part of a whole project dedicated to that goal. Let's face it, learning ancient languages is generally boring, even more so for a language that has only been partially reconstructed. So I decided to turn my journey into your journey to explore ancient Sumer. The book is presented as a travel phrasebook that guides you through the streets of Ur, Lagash or Nippur and helps you discover the language and the lives of the people who would become us. Language not only describes reality, but also shapes it, and this book lets beginners see the world through the eyes of people who lived at the start of the Bronze Age. modernsumerian.gumroad.com/l…

If someone had ever told me that I would receive refusal letters for job openings with the main reason being "you have good experience in web3, but not in web2", I would not have believed it. Isn't "3" supposed to be better than "2"? 😂

Since I fly drones, I realized how completely inane airport security is. I went through airport security a few times with highly flammable Lithium batteries that can catch fire if I don't charge them (or store them) properly, but I am always searched for stupid reasons: - When I flew to Medellín, I was searched because I had a fork in my bag. - When I came back to the UK in September, I was searched because I had a bag of wet wipes. - Earlier this year in Toulouse, I was searched because of the goggles I use to fly the drone. I am a responsible adult, and I learned how to charge and store the batteries correctly, and I keep them in a fireproof bag when I travel (which should be mandatory). I am searched every single time I go through airport security. Every time I think it's because of the batteries, and every time it's for some bogus reason 🙄

Here is a visual representation of the difference between AI models: I was designing a road sprite for my video game using GPT-6 Luna High. I tried 3 times, and 3 times it generated the skewed road in the first image that looks zigzaggy and disconnected when multiple sprites are put together. So I switched to GPT-6 Astra High and reran the last prompt I had run with Luna; it got the straight pattern right on the first try!

You don't have to read the code. Seriously. If you want to get the thing live, feel the product, play with the UX, then go. It's incredible that you can. Just know what you're trading away when you skip it. Then decide for yourself 🧵

20% tax on AI API credits and subscriptions is probably the worst theft of all. Why wouldn't I be glad to pay 20% more for something that basically doesn't exist, so that the government can keep pushing communist anti-freedom policies???

Here's a 45-second TL;DR on Jev. I find the core idea beautifully simple, but the video made it really hard to understand. Hope you find it helpful.
After co-inventing ChatGPT, I kept asking myself: why have superhuman chat models not led to AGI? I’ve spent the last 2 years in stealth building a new way to train models (RLCD), and a new type of frontier AI model that we are releasing today: Jev • 20-200x faster • 40-400x cheaper (w/ output tokens free) • Frontier composable intelligence optimized for decisions AFAICT the shortest path to AI-based economic revolution

Vibecoding also means explaining to Codex that human beings cannot understand what 756 seconds represents 😅

I am vibecoding a video game, and today, I installed the ChatGPT Chrome extension and gave Codex access to my screen to see how that works. Then Codex created the new feature I asked it to create, moved to the tab where the game was running, tested that the feature was correctly implemented, played the game, created tests to validate the code and reported that everything was fine. What a time to be alive 😅

Another red pill moment you get when you live outside of the Western world is realizing how much freedom we lost in the West: In Colombia, I could buy 1 litre of tequila, go to the self-checkout, and pay for it, no questions asked. In the UK, at the self-checkout, I have to ask permission from a store employee to buy 200 ml of Red Bull 😑

I wonder if positive reinforcement works on LLMs 🤔 If ChatGPT or Claude follows your instructions correctly and you say "that's great" or "that's exactly what I wanted", does it incentivize the model to repeat the same behaviour and results in the future?
