Multiple positions available @UNSWLaw, including in global and public law! I'm just wrapping up my first term here, and for what it's worth, it's a wonderful place to work. Brilliant students, generous and friendly colleagues. Come join us!

The hard copy is in, and the PhD is at an end. Endlessly grateful to friends & colleagues @Lauterpacht_Ctr & @CorpusCambridge who made this journey so enjoyable, and particularly to my supervisor @EBenvenisti, who has been so supportive & generous with his time over the years.
Grateful also to my examiners @FernandoLBordin & Jan Klabbers for their helpful, thought-provoking comments, which will be invaluable as I continue to develop this research.

Just published: 'Opposability and Non-Opposability in International Law' by Eirik Bjorge.

Extraordinary thread on the UN's treatment of its locally-engaged staff in Kabul ⬇️. Foreign staff whisked to safety while local staff are not even able to shelter in UN safe houses.
Delighted to share my new (open access) article in @ICLQ_jnl, 'The Teleological Turn in the Law of International Organisations'.
Comments very welcome, so do get in touch if you have any thoughts!

This is so exhausting, both for expats and for those back home. 18 months into this pandemic and still no clarity on Australia's plan to exist in a world with endemic Covid. 🇦🇺 did brilliantly last year, but its policymaking (and public debate) is still stuck in March 2020.
Why is Australia's PM continuing to undermine how effective the vaccines are?
The vaccine in the UK has absolutely collapsed the link between Covid cases and deaths and hospitalisations - ie. FLATTENED THE CURVE yet @ScottMorrisonMP doesn't choose to tell that to the public.

What a sad news. One of the greatest international law scholars, a judge of the world’s top court, James Crawford died. For me, an ex-colleague, ex-Dean, a reliable and warm friend. Vale James.

BREAKING
Australia is considering $66k FINES and FIVE YEAR JAIL TERMS for any Australian citizen who tries to get home from Covid-ravaged India, after banning entry to 9000 #StrandedAussies earlier this week.
