After a day to digest what frontier lab leadership committed to this weekend on safety and pacing, we've decided to launch the Clanker Safety Institute: an independent, ideologically uncompromised, AI-optimist approach to frontier safety. We don't think doomerism brings the right priors to this work. It treats ordinary incidents as five-alarm fires and rarely gets around to asking what actually caused them. We start from the other end: industry-standard practice, evidence, and the assumption that a failure has a root cause and a fix. AI is going to make the world dramatically better.
