There should be a public inquiry into the decision to place the new Civic Hospital on the Central Experimental Farm. The location is far from ideal (5 football fields from LRT), 2,500-car above ground parking garage is too close to Dow’s Lake & hospital is too big (2.5 M sq.ft!) – at Ottawa, Ontario

The revelations are stunning. Makes me think that if there was a Public Inquiry into the decision to site the new Civic Hospital on 53 acres of green space (40 acres of the Experimental Farm, 5 acres of parkland owned by the City and NCC) heads would roll. Including the Mayor’s.

A viewer just sent me a longer version of the arrest video from the dress code protest in Orleans today
Tough to see how the Ottawa Police explanation holds up that these “youths” were “trespassing” on the sidewalk, when they just wanted to cross the street and join the protest

Why is the new Civic Hospital being built on contaminated land?
This 2021 study found 7 groups of “Contaminants of Potential Concern”: PHCs, BTEX, VOCs, PAHS*, Metals, Inorganics and Phenol” at the Sir John Carling Building site *PAHs @globeandmail @OttawaCitizen

savecfbrockcliffe's blog: Queen Juliana Park at Dow's Lake should be a Memorial Park. Not the location of a new hospital.

This generator and several others are powering lights and other unnecessary equipment *all weekend* with no workers present – a symptom of the damaging and irresponsible destruction of the Experimental Farm now taking place. @reimagineottawa @CliveDoucet @JoelHardenONDP
