Nocturnal aye-ayes have relatively higher melatonin in natural light environments compared to artificial light environments in zoo settings. Really thought-provoking for indoor lab primates that are most often fully regulated by artificial light cycles #ASPDenver2022

@LydiaMHopper makes a case for cog. data as a welfare tool, demonstrating that accuracy but not participation in cognitive tasks is impacted by viewer presence in zoo-housed Japanese macaques @lincolnparkzoo

@MMulholland33 demonstrates that participation in regular, voluntary cognitive tasks is sensitive to physical health, with female rhesus macaques bowing out of participation only days before giving birth!
Federally-funded research should be free and accessible to the public. Excited to contribute my dissertation research to the world without journal paywalls! whitehouse.gov/ostp/news-upd…

You know what waiting for a tow really calls for? Cat calling. Absolutely what I'm down for after a harrowing car experience and definitely guaranteed to lead in a positive response.

Heartbreaking news with massive ramifications
The Supreme Court has decided to overturn Roe v. Wade and allow states to outlaw abortion, according to a draft of the justices’ decision obtained by Politico. @DLeonhardt looks at the case and its implications in The Morning newsletter. nyti.ms/39mi0BZ
A humble brag thread about the amazing students I had this quarter ♥️
As we wrap up the quarter @ucdavis @UCDavisPsych I just have to say how proud I am of my students. With so much going on in the world & a hybrid quarter, they came to class ready & excited to learn. This was my first quarter teaching in person & the energy was so special -CLK

I watched one of my students become an advocate for intersex healthcare yesterday & it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. She is on to med school next year & is determined to challenge her peers & teachers to listen to the experiences & needs of intersex folks

Another one of my students emailed me to let me know that she used research from @Krysti_N_Ryan to begin a conversation about gender diversity & the distinction between sex & gender with members of her church community.

This is the time in the quarter where I see students really thinking about the class material & relating it to things happening in their own lives & in the world around them. And it's beautiful!
To the cashier who let me pay for my take out by placing a duplicate online order (bc my wallet didn't make it into my work bag), thank you from the bottom of my heart. I had a shit day, but your kindness was the bright spot I will remember ♥️
