August 9th marks the celebration of International Day of the Worldโs Indigenous Peoples! In honor of the first meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations in 1982, organizations around the world celebrate the rich cultures and diverse histories of indigenous communities across the globe each year.
Please take time to educate yourselves on the unique challenges facing indigenous populations including the loss of native lands, languages, and ancestral histories, as well as marginalization, extreme poverty, and other human rights violations.
