Government admits climate targets in tatters 🌍
“The longer Gov puts off real climate action, the higher the cost to the public and the greater the impact on our environment and economy. That is not a near miss. It’s a massive failure.” @ciaranahern

The safety risk posed by new LED headlights on other cars is under the spotlight.🚗
Labour is hitting out at the Government for not looking into the level of risk to drivers from the bright lamps.
It wants the state to carry out research to find out how dangerous they are and if they're contributing to crashes.
TD Ciaran Ahern says many motorists have raised concerns about dazzling, intensely bright lights from newer cars, particularly over the busy holiday travel period, warning they can be a serious distraction for drivers.

I took a month of paternity leave last year, but there are no formal structures for it in the Oireachtas. I was lucky to have the support of @ivanabacik and my colleagues in @labour who covered for me when I was due to speak in Dáil debates or ask questions of Ministers.

Even we’re now starting to lose track of the amount of rollbacks of basic road safety commitments from this Government
No safe road speeds
No restructuring of the RSA
No automatic camera enforcement
Oh and we’ve just had the worst year for road deaths in a decade
Currently people just commuting to work causes traffic & travel disruption around Dublin!
Poor planning by successive Govts has led us here. Urgent & sustained investment in public transport is the only solution.
Dart South West & Lucan luas must be prioritised with metro 🚃
The EU Presidency, which is being hosted by Ireland next year, will cause a certain level of traffic and travel disruption, particularly in Dublin, Transport Minister Darragh O'Brien has said jrnl.ie/6911285
