🚐💗 Community health is on the move! Our first official CHW Mobile Connector outreach at Southside Plaza in Richmond is off to an amazing start! We’re meeting neighbors where they are—connecting people with information about Medicaid, SNAP, community resources, and more. And we’re doing it alongside our phenomenal community partners! 🤝🇵🇷 A special thank you to El Kiosko for providing authentic Puerto Rican panafas for our first 20 clients! ❤️ This is what the Connector is all about: we’re not waiting for community to find us—we’re going to community. 💗 Donate. 🙌 Volunteer. 📍 Host us. 📲 Share our work. Every connection counts. This is only the beginning! 🚐✨ #CHWMobileConnector #VACHWA #ElKiosko #RichmondVA #CommunityHealthWorkers #HealthEquity #CommunityOutreach

Preparation is everything when policies are changing and our communities will be impacted. I had the opportunity to participate in the H.R. 1 Federal Work Requirements Information & Planning Session, hosted by HHR, VDSS, and DMAS, and I walked away with information that we can actually put into practice. Hint: DSS AI “Toni”. What stood out to me was the focus on real case scenarios, practical tools, and the infrastructure needed to navigate implementation. These are exactly the kinds of conversations we need as we prepare to help individuals and families understand what these changes mean for them. And the people made the day even more special! 💙 I was thrilled to see Dr. Steve Ford, DMAS Director, the legendary Ms Kelly Evans Outreach Program Coordinator—my mentor ❤️, along with so many wonderful and familiar (and new) faces from La Casa de la Salud and Serve Virginia. There is a lot ahead of us. At VACHWA our focus is make sure CHWs and Promotores are informed, prepared, and positioned to help communities navigate what comes next. We’re taking what we learn back to the community—that’s where it belongs. 💪🏽 #VACHWA #CHWs #PromotoresDeSalud #HR1 #DMAS #VDSS #CommunityHealthWorkers #CommunityNavigation

💙 What a joyful day of reconnecting, learning, and sharing! We had a wonderful time with the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Engagement (OIRE) at Southside Plaza in Richmond. Seeing Larisa Ramos from La Casa de la Salud and so many familiar faces was truly a joy! And, of course, we had to capture a few pictures with the VACHWA CHW Connector 🚐💙 as we officially get the word out about this exciting initiative. We also appreciated the phenomenal presentation from Enroll Virginia on HR1 and how these changes are showing up in our communities. Staying informed and connected is how we prepare and support one another. 📣 And there’s more to come! Our 2026 CHW & Doula Conference is October 8–9—secure your ticket and join us! 🚐 Want to host the CHW Connector in your community? Reserve your date: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F… Connection. Community. Partnership. That’s what the CHW Connector is all about. 💙 #CHWConnector #VACHWA #OIRE #LaCasaDeLaSalud #EnrollVirginia #CommunityHealthWorkers #RichmondVA

Today reminded me why I became and LOVE ❤️ being a Promotora de Salud. I was simply washing my hands in an airport restroom when I met a woman from Guatemala. She looked exhausted. As we started talking in Spanish, she shared that she and her family had been stranded at the airport for almost two days because of mechanical issues. They hadn’t been offered a hotel, or any information about what they were entitled to. In that moment, I wasn’t in an office. I wasn’t at a community event. I wasn’t on the clock. I was simply a Community Health Worker doing what Community Health Workers do—listening, building trust, sharing accurate information, and empowering someone to advocate for herself. Because we spoke the same language, there was an immediate connection. Together, we explored her options, and she left feeling informed, hopeful, and equipped to bring about change for her family. But the story doesn’t end there. As we were saying goodbye, she smiled and told me, “I think I want to become a Promotora de Salud someday.” My heart was full ❤️ Sometimes people think our work ends when our shift is over. The truth is, being a trusted messenger isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. We meet people where they are, often when they least expect it, and sometimes one conversation can change the trajectory of a family’s journey… or inspire the next Community Health Worker. This is the power of connection. This is the power of language. This is the power of lived experience. This is the power of Community Health Workers. 💙 #ThePowerOfWe #CommunityHealthWorkers #PromotoraDeSalud #TrustedMessenger #HealthEquity #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs

Here’s a polished version that keeps your enthusiasm while improving flow: What a phenomenal day at the Multicultural Festival! Four years in a row, and this year’s celebration was the most fun yet. A heartfelt congratulations to the incredible leadership team and our dear friends, Keep Karla Ramos, and Kate Ayers, for bringing this amazing event to life. Your vision, dedication, and hard work made it another outstanding success. Take a look at what our Promotores de Salud and Community Health Workers were doing throughout the afternoon—bringing joy, building connections, and, most importantly, educating our communities. That’s at the heart of who we are and what we do. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, engaged with us, and celebrated the richness of our diverse communities. We are already looking forward to another successful festival next year! 💙🌍 #CommunityHealthWorkers #PromotoresDeSalud #MulticulturalFestival #TrustedMessengers #HealthEquity #VACHWA
