The dear leader is tossing out lies and misrepresentations as if they were free candy for his base. That is because he has effectively lost the war in Iran, and he really doesn’t know what to do. Here, he attacks the Houthis because they are causing him trouble. Analysis of Claims vs. Facts "I thought they learned their lesson... when we bombed the HELL out of them": US intelligence assessments and reports from April 2026 indicate Iran retained roughly two-thirds of its Air Force and 60% of its naval capabilities, including the fast attack boats used to threaten the Strait of Hormuz. Far from a decisive blow, the strikes appear to have left Iran's core military infrastructure largely intact. "Iran, which is a Failing Nation, with No Navy, No Airforce": This is contradicted by the assessments above. Iran's military was damaged but not destroyed. Furthermore, the war has demonstrated Iran's capability to disrupt global energy markets, with the Strait of Hormuz representing an opportunity as "precious as an atomic bomb". This is not the profile of a nation with no military capacity. "hitting Saudi Arabia, and purposely trying to drive up Oil Prices, probably prior to the U.S. Elections": Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia are indeed ongoing, including a missile strike on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport in October 2026 that killed at least 12 people and wounded over 300. However, the Houthis' primary stated target has been shipping affiliated with Israel, the US, the UK, and Saudi Arabia. The timing is less about influencing US elections and more a direct consequence of the regional war that began in February 2026. "I've already won, IN A MASSIVE LANDSLIDE": This is a false statement. The 2026 US midterm elections are scheduled for November 3, 2026. Trump is not on the ballot; he is not running in these elections. The "landslide" he references was the 2024 presidential election, not the upcoming midterms. The Dangerous Dual Political Environment The war has created a perilous situation characterized by two interconnected pressures: Strategic Military Loss and Diplomatic Isolation: The war, launched in late February 2026, has not achieved its primary objectives. Analysts, including those at The Washington Post, describe it as a "strategic disaster" where "by nearly every metric, the U.S. is losing". Iran's regime remains largely intact, and the US has failed to secure the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict is estimated to have cost the US approximately $38.1 billion so far and has severely damaged its standing with Gulf allies. Severe Domestic Economic and Political Fallout: Economic Pain: The war has triggered a massive energy crisis. The conflict has cost US consumers an estimated 2,000 in higher costs for the average American household. Gasoline prices have surged to $4.34 a gallon (up from 6.28 a gallon**. Inflation has risen to 3.3%, its highest level in two years. Political Damage: This economic pain has directly translated into political peril for the Republican Party. With the midterm elections just weeks away, the war is deeply unpopular. A poll from early May 2026 showed that over 60% of Americans believed going to war with Iran was a "mistake". A more recent poll in key swing states of Iowa and Ohio found that over 70% of voters believe Trump's policies have driven up their cost of living. This has led to a contradictory political dance. President Trump has publicly stated he will not attack Iran before the November 3rd elections, a move widely interpreted as an implicit admission that the war is damaging Republican electoral prospects. However, he has also threatened massive destruction if Iran does not comply with his demands, leaving open the possibility of renewed conflict after the votes are cast. The administration is caught between the need to project strength and the political reality that the war has become a severe liability.
