In this life you begin at one extreme and overcompensate with the opposite until you finally find your balance. The pleasure seeker will become ascetic before they become well rounded, just as the zealot will become atheist before they become godly. This is the pattern of life. You start with one unhealthy predilection until it wears you down, and then believing the grass is greener on the other side you foolishly overcorrect in rebellion against yourself until eventually that too wears you down, coming to realise it is the oscillation between extremes rather than a mediocre blend of both that would create the most inhabitable state for you. You realise your soul has a rhythm, an ebb and flow you must lean into - that you have cycles - and that you don’t need to be defined by one particular stance or preference, but can inhabit multiple seeming contradictions harmoniously - you have finally accepted yourself - you have realised you can be a most beautiful paradox!
