Dolores Huerta was one of California's greatest action heroes.  For more than seventy years, she led by example, fought tirelessly for the dignity and rights of immigrants and working people, and never stopped until the job was done. I am grateful for our time working together to protect California’s farm workers by guaranteeing shade and water in the fields. Dolores believed strongly in that simple life-saving protection and never stopped fighting for its implementation and enforcement.  Dolores was a true public servant who always fought for what was right and she will live on through her incredible legacy.

Decades ago, the Forest Theater was a gathering spot for the South Dallas community. Built in 1949, it was first a luxe place to see a movie, drawing 5,000 people to the grand opening block party and square dance. The theater’s stage was graced by a who’s who of artists: B.B. King, Wilson Pickett, Ike and Tina Turner, and Prince. By the ’90s, though, it fell into disrepair, and attempts to bring it back faltered. But after a nearly decade-long effort, the story is very different. On Sunday, November 1, Elizabeth Wattley and her team at Forest Forward will celebrate the “Grand Return,” a night when the iconic Forest sign will light up for the first time in more than 50 years, the community and supporters will gather in their “best version of black,” and everyone will get a first glimpse at the indoor and outdoor areas of the theater. dmagazine.com/publications/d…

Agree 100% with @mcuban Elon is a tremendous builder/founder (and I admire him for it) but politically he is pursuing an outdated strategy
I’m against all of these. The new force in politics and elections is independents. The fact independents are NOT an organized party, means we can individually do what we think is right, without regard to party politics. That is a force we have not seen before. And it is only growing as we all become increasingly disgusted by party politics. Pushing these would backfire on Democrats.

This morning, I returned to where I grew up in Brooklyn to announce a donation from The Bisignano Family Fund to @TrumpAccounts for children ages 2 to 8 who reside in zip code 11234. These children will now have a major financial advantage to achieve the American dream.

The Forest Theater, which once played host to Prince and B.B. King, was nearly demolished to make way for a gas station. But after a decade-long effort, the South Dallas marquee shines again. dmagazine.com/publications/d…

Mark Cuban says he wants nothing to do with either political party: “The Republican Party is the Trump family business, and the Democratic Party doesn’t even know what it’s doing. They both suck.” 🇺🇸 Mark Cuban: “People think I’m a Democrat. I’m not. If it were up to me, I’d kick both parties to the curb. I think both parties suck. I’m a moderate independent.” Tucker Carlson: “If you were advising Elon, would you tell him to stay out of the Republican Party and try to win some seats for common sense? Would you back him?” Mark Cuban: “It depends on the policies and the politicians they were putting forward. Yes, I’m wide open to that. We need to look at each individual situation on its own merits. I just don’t care about either party. The Republican Party isn’t the Republican Party anymore. It’s the Trump family business. And the Democratic Party doesn’t even exist anymore because they don’t even know what they’re doing, and there’s nobody in charge. They both suck.”

More than 40% of Montanans are Independents. Party insiders didn’t think they’d matter, that they’d just fall in line. We're going to prove them wrong.

We founded the Independent Leadership Council because truly independent candidates face a political system built around two parties with no infrastructure to help them compete outside it. In Washington, you're expected to pick a side: Republican or Democrat. But there's another possibility: putting the American people first. I know from experience what happens when neither party can take your vote for granted. Both sides have to come to the table, make their case and find common ground. That's the idea behind our support for independent candidates like @SethBodnarForMT and @KevinKileyCA, who have committed to caucusing with neither major party. Independent leadership isn't about standing alone. It's about having the freedom and the leverage to work with both sides. In a closely divided Congress, even a few truly independent members could change how Washington operates. That's the mission of the @Independent_LC: creating a path for independent representation in a system dominated by two parties.

Matthew McConaughey said it best: Independents don’t just have leverage, they are the leverage. Congress is more divided than ever before, and with razor-thin margins, a few true Independents can bring power back to the middle — where most Americans live their lives. My daughter Heather and I started the Independent Leadership Council because the two major political parties have lost the plot. To them, it’s not about public service anymore — it’s about party loyalty and pushing extreme agendas that aren’t addressing the problems Americans are facing in their everyday lives. I appreciate @McConaughey speaking up for Independent Americans and bringing attention to the opportunity we have to choose a third path this November. Visit independentleadershipcouncil… to learn more and to declare your independence today. @Independent_LC

530A accounts ("Trump Accounts") are a great solution for many ultra-wealthy Americans who are philanthropically inclined, do not want a foundation staff, do want to give while living, and haven't been inspired by existing nonprofits. It's an American version of “GiveDirectly."
