Volcanic ash has covered parts of Jakarta after Mount Anak Krakatau erupted off the coast of Java. 🌋
The volcano, whose name means “child of Krakatau,” sent ash toward the Indonesian capital, coating aircraft, vehicles, and surfaces in a layer of grey dust.
Jakarta’s main airport was closed as the ash cloud disrupted aviation operations. Volcanic ash can severely damage aircraft engines and reduce visibility for pilots, making flying through affected areas hazardous.

Hundreds of flights at Jakarta’s main airport have been canceled following the eruption of Indonesia’s Mount Anak Krakatau, as a volcanic ash cloud spreads across the region.
AirNav radar data shows that air traffic to and from Jakarta effectively stopped at around 01:00 local time, when the last arrivals and departures were recorded.
Nineteen Singapore Airlines (SIA) flights are among those affected, with the ash cloud disrupting aviation operations across the Indonesian capital.

I hope @nflcommish appreciates that the 49ers are spending a full week at public events and interacting with locals in Melbourne, doing the NFL’s ambassador work. The team does seem to be enjoying the people there.
The Rams are the “home team” and the party responsible for requiring the 49ers take that lengthy trip (and we all know why), and they’ve done exactly jack squat to sell the NFL brand or connect with Australians. Fly in, fly out, no contact. I’m sure the Aussies feel great about that snub.
