Interesting case studies from this DfE research on belonging. What struck me: - Good lesson routines help absent pupils belong again - Staff belonging comes first - Belonging is mostly a byproduct, not itself a target. assets.publishing.service.go…

Remembering Paul Hunter, 20 years on. ❤️ A snooker legend taken far too soon, but never forgotten. We miss you, Paul.

Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay and I’ve been up in Liverpool hosting a panel at the ON YOUR SIDE launch with The Royal Foundation. I also spoke to Gary Speed’s mum - Carol. It’s nearly 15 years since Gary took his own life. I loved talking to her but she also broke my heart. Also… hugs are good ❤️

🇸🇳 Lamine Camara has won the most tackles (20) in Ligue 1 this season. He’s also won the most duels (33) in each of Monaco’s three league games so far. Such a brilliant midfielder.

Reposting this as we get close to starting the school year. This genius list by the late and much missed Tim Brighouse should be the starting point for how our schools focus on the young people within them.

What does belonging mean for schools? Been thinking about this a lot in relation to learning and this from @jon_hutchinson_ is the best thing I’ve read on the topic.

🧵 5. While I recognise the value of sporting competition as a former dedicated inclusive PE enthusiast, I am eagerly awaiting the day in which schools can access 💴 and HQ support to co-design PA provision for targeted pupils based on their circumstances/lived experiences 🙏🏻

🧵 4. In a 15 year teaching career the School Games programme was always a challenge… capacity/cost/curriculum - made it impossible to ensure all pupils had equal access to the opportunities being offered (which were largely traditional and often pathways)

🧵 3. Increasing access/ & the improving the experience for pupils in PE and SS is crucial… increasing positive early experiences of a broad range of opportunities to be physically active is just as crucial… if we want children to find meaning, value and enjoyment in PE, SS, PA

🧵 2. Perhaps practitioners with expertise in; ▪️Outdoor learning ▪️Play ▪️Active Travel ▪️Physically Active Learning could be commissioned by national partners to develop an approach to #WSPA creating #PositiveExperiences for pupils while building capability/capacity in schools

🧵1. I would be interested to know what ‘national sporting expertise’ looks like… and if this is an appropriate strategy for increasing activity levels of CYP who aren’t meeting the daily recommendations.

How do you incorporate 'wider learning' into your PE lessons? So the cognitive/social development etc? Do you purposefully integrate it and have it as a learning intention/outcome, or are you of the impression it happend naturally through activities that are planned for?

Ok primary school teachers... If/when you teach PE, and if you follow a scheme: - how soon before the lesson do you look at the lesson? - do you need/have anything with you in the lesson, such as the plan to support you? #edutwitter
