the AI question really should be: are we doing wild west on copyright laws or not. if we are, okay - then that should apply to everyone. if we’re not - okay, then that should apply to everyone. everyone is basically arguing that now tech companies get to be the exception to them.

After centuries, thanks to gpt4o, AI has finally allowed us to see Van Gogh's true vision for 'Starry Night' as he always intended but was limited by the primitive tools of his time.

it’s my firm belief that we are past the event horizon for the singularity. it’s possible we actually passed that point long ago, and are only just now starting to observe it. buckle up kiddos. take this with you for safety:

What makes you recognize someone are the near imperceptible differences in proportion, scale etc. You can't just apply "averaged asian boy" to resolve data that isn't there. It's not a real person. You are creating false memories. You are adding psychosis to your surroundings.

the value of the text-gen robots of the world are not in generating personalized media. rather, it's being able to ask a complex and nuanced questions without having to sift through the condescension and pedantry of insufferable reddit and quora answers. strikingly refreshing.

The narrative in gaming media is really funny to me. Steam Deck seems to be heralded as a successful new category starter despite only selling ~4 million units in 3 years. Meanwhile, Quest (and VR) is constantly downplayed as a failure while having around 22 million active users.

In the early 1960s, Walt Disney carried the torch of one of humanity's oldest pursuits, the search for mechanical life. The result was Audio-Animatronics, a new breed of robots that would soon populate the world. Watch Disney's Animatronics: A Living History now.

Drones should blink an ID number on their running lights at 15 baud so two seconds of blurry cell phone footage can identify it. Doesn’t do anything for nefarious uses, but most owners don’t want to be UFOs! Maybe all vehicles should do that, perhaps in IR, as license plates.

new @septa transit app is gorgeous, clear, and just masterful user experience all around. kudos where they are due. i’m super excited to see the new corresponding signage out in the wild.

only really nitpick is that it would be nice to have the full system map and metro map within one or two taps at all times. real misstep that the new prominent map doesn’t show the major route lines as lines is a little confusing, versus apple maps, google maps, and @transitapp.

the fact alone that software is an art that can itself contain all others should be the first clue to the real specialness of just what games can be. other forms present ideas, but only one allows you to directly negotiate with them. that is absurdly powerful.
