Today marks two years since Peter Lynch died in prison.
Please take a moment to remember Peter today.
A life lost, a family left to grieve, and a man who must not be forgotten. 🕊️

Britain built the world's first programmable electronic computer. 🇬🇧
Not in a university. In a Post Office.
Watch the full story. 🎥
Tommy Flowers was a bricklayer's son from the East End. There was no money for university. So he went to evening classes, year after year. 📚
In the war, Hitler sent his most secret orders by teleprinter. Scrambled by a machine even more complex than Enigma. Breaking one message by hand took weeks. ⏳
Tommy had a better idea. A machine built from fifteen hundred glass valves. The experts said they'd never last. One senior codebreaker wanted him taken off the work for "squandering good valves". 🙄
Bletchley wouldn't back him. So he put in some of his own money. 💷
Eleven months later, Colossus read the enemy's messages at five thousand letters a second. Weeks became hours. ⚡
On 1 June 1944, five days before D-Day, a bigger Colossus went to work. It showed Hitler had swallowed the bait. He still expected the landings at Calais. 🎯
After the war, the machines were broken up. Every drawing was burnt. 🔥
The government gave Tommy a thousand pounds. It didn't cover what he'd spent himself.
He still shared it with his team. The Bank of England turned down his loan for another one.
They didn't believe it could work... He couldn't tell them he'd already built ten. 🤐
Everyone's heard of Silicon Valley. Hardly anyone has heard of Dollis Hill. 📍
Today a rebuilt Colossus runs again at Bletchley Park. You can stand beside it and hear it. 🏛️
Now we're told this country can't build anything any more. Tommy proved them wrong once.

A crowd of Glasgow housewives once froze rents across Britain. 🇬🇧
With a bell. A rattle. And a bag of flour.
Watch the full story. 🎥
Glasgow, 1915. Workers poured into the city for war work.
There weren't enough homes to go round. So the landlords hiked the rents. 📈
Lots of those families had a man serving overseas.
Fall behind on rent? The factor sent the bailiffs. 🚪
Not one of those women could vote for an MP.
Mary Barbour, an engineer's wife from Govan, brought them together anyway. 🔔
Pay the old rent. Refuse the rise. Not a penny more.
When a bailiff came up the stairs, a woman rang a bell.
Doors flew open all the way up the building.
Flour if they'd been baking. Wet washing if they'd been washing. 🧺
Usually, he ran for his life. 🏃
By November 1915, up to twenty thousand Glasgow tenants were on strike.
Then a factor took eighteen of them to court. ⚖️
On the morning of the hearing, the shipyards walked out.
Thousands of men marched with the women. 🚢
Britain was fighting a war. It needed those munitions.
The cases were dropped.
Within weeks, Parliament froze rents across the country. Parts of that law stayed on the books until 1989. 📜
You were probably taught how women won the vote.
You probably weren't taught what came first. 🗳️
Mary's bell only worked because every door opened.

They teach you the world got connected in the 1990s.
Not that a British ship did it in 1866. 🇬🇧
Watch the full story. 🎥
When Abraham Lincoln was shot, London didn’t find out for twelve days. ⏳
An American called Cyrus Field dreamed of a wire under the ocean.
But nobody in America could make it. Only Britain could. 🇬🇧🏭
Two warships tried to lay it. HMS Agamemnon and USS Niagara. 🚢
It snapped. It broke. Again and again. 💔
In August 1858 it finally held. America went wild. 🎆
Three weeks later the cable was dead.
For seven years the ocean stayed silent.
Then Britain took it on. 🇬🇧
A new cable from Greenwich.
The only ship on earth big enough to carry it: Brunel’s giant, the Great Eastern. ⚓
In 1865, twelve hundred miles out, the cable snapped.
It sank more than two miles down. 🌊
Most people would have given up…
They made another cable instead. 💪
July 1866. Heart’s Content, Newfoundland.
Britain and America were joined. News that took twelve days now took minutes. ⚡
But the job wasn’t finished.
They went back for the cable they’d lost. Two and a half miles down. Nearly thirty attempts. 🪝
Then the spot of light moved.
The cable was alive. ✨
The wharf is still there in Greenwich. The house on it is a pub now.
You can drink a pint where the world was wired. 🍺
We come from people who go back for it. 🇬🇧

In 1794, Catherine the Great of Russia ordered the construction of the city and port of Odessa. In 2014, neo-Nazi thugs bussed from Kiev clubbed Donbas Russians in Odessa who were protesting the February coup in Kiev. They were chased into the Trade Unions House and burned alive.
Installed by Victoria Nuland, it was the interim government, led by unelected Oleksandr Turchynov, who ordered the Odessa attack and started the Donbas civil war. The Russian protestors were defending their children, their families, their communities, their culture and language.
The West orchestrated this war in 2014. Now, 12 years later, the warlord Zelensky is a threat to world peace. The US neocons, the Kiev regime, and the European “Coalition of the Willing” are not defending democracy in #Ukraine. Like Hitler, they are fighting to kill off the Russian people and dismember the Russian state.

HONESTLY look at this video. The resources gone in to bringing in, protecting and securing illegal migrants is astonishing. They have a bigger security motorcade than Trump would have on a visit.
This is shocking. In Gosport, Portsmouth Harbour.

It makes me sick, actually, to watch people with lucrative private pensions, and little reason to worry about their later years, say “the country can’t afford it, let’s take money off poorer people”. If I were in their position, normal human diffidence would mean I kept quiet.

The Labour government is lying to you.
A border officer at Manchester Airport says there is a corner of the airfield he can see and is banned from entering. Flights in between 2am and 4am. Three or four a week. Transponders off. Special call sign. Cleared to land.
Not screened by Border Force. Met by Home Office staff. Onto unmarked buses. Out a side gate. 200 to 300 people a flight, from the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa.
That is not a leak. That is the government flying people in while telling you the border is under control. Illegal immigrants, delivered by the same people who swore they would stop the boats.
They are not failing. They are doing it. And they are lying to the British people about it.

This is uncomfortable viewing for me. Takes me back to when I was attacked by a mob of some 200 men in Tahrir Square in Cairo, when I was reporting for 60 Minutes and I was gang-raped, sodomized & beaten. Mob violence is a call to the worst of humanity because it is cover for cowards.

The leadership of the Greens have BANNED the term “Mother and Father”. They are deeply unpleasant cranks.

Had enough of the Greens?
Banning women from their own conference. Lecturing you about "mother and father." Telling working people what they can and can't say.
Holborn and St Pancras deserves better than Zack Polanski's madness.
George Galloway is the one candidate standing up to it, and he needs you.

This cannot be stressed enough. The State Pension is not ‘welfare’. It is, as Mark says, based on a contract and people paying in accordingly. And far from being ‘unaffordable’ the National Insurance Fund had a surplus of nearly £80bn last year. Something that the ‘axe the Triple Lock’ brigade never mention.

Put your hand on your chest. Feel that? ❤️
For fourteen hundred years, doctors got it wrong. They followed an ancient Greek doctor called Galen. 📜
He taught that blood was made in the liver from your food. Then used up by the body, like fuel. Nobody checked. 🤷
Then came a boy from Folkestone. William Harvey. Born 1578. 🌊
He became a doctor at Barts. He did something nobody had bothered to do. He counted. 🧮
How much blood in one beat? He guessed low. Just a small spoonful. How many beats in half an hour? Over a thousand. ⏳
Even on his lowest guess, in a single day, the heart pumps out more blood than the whole body weighs. 🤯
No liver could make that much. It must be going round. And round. And round. 🔄
In 1628, he published it. The doctors laughed. People said he was crack-brained. His patients left him. 😔
He didn't back down. It took twenty years. But they came round. 💪
Every blood test. Every heart operation. Every transfusion. They all start with a man from Kent who counted. 🇬🇧
They teach you medicine came from the Greeks and the Romans. Not that it took a man from Kent to prove them wrong. 🏛️
A country that doesn't just accept what it's told. It checks. ✅
Feel it again. Four hundred years ago, a man from Kent worked out what it's doing. ❤️
