The average American has been to 5 of these cities. How many have you been too? I’ll start, 14.

Trump still has the sauce. No one else could have made picks like these. Every selection is like drafting a kicker in the first round but the kicker has a Wikipedia section titled Allegations and is also not really a kicker

History is going to one day make us feel ashamed for this era in America, but if history could hurry up a bit that would be great

What’s exasperating is that so many people choose to believe them
what's so exasperating about people like Trump and Vance is not that they lie all the time, though they do it's that their lies are so transparently absurd and obvious it's like a child insisting that 2+2 = 6, over and over again

Trump, once elected, is no longer a factor. We will be dealing with Musk, Vance, Thiel, and Putin — who will have total immunity. Wake up.

.@JesseThorn found a zoo in Minnesota where he can pet a capybara. He wants to stop there on our way to our show tomorrow, but I said NO. No time. HOWEVER, if you people repost this ticket link 150 times (av weight of a capybara) I will let Jesse do it. bit.ly/JJHOSTP24

I’ve long said that we can learn more about our home by leaving it and looking at it from a distance — and since my student days, I’ve done just that for about three months every year. My mission: to equip and inspire Americans to venture beyond Orlando. And I’ve dedicated my life to teaching the value of thoughtful travel. What does that have to do with the 2024 US election? This election is deeper than right vs. left or Democrat vs. Republican. It’s a referendum on American democracy...with our Constitution on the chopping block. And I believe if everyone could travel before they vote, the political landscape of the USA would be vastly different. I see our world as a place filled with love, joy, and good people who share similar needs and concerns. I believe fear is for people who don’t get out much. The flip side of fear is understanding…and we gain understanding by traveling, whether that be a low-budget road trip south or north of the border or a month-long European vacation. Travelers learn that if a just and stable world is the goal, we need not walls but bridges. This upcoming Monday, Sept. 23, I’ll enjoy making my case in 75 minutes on a special edition of Monday Night Travel — “Rick Steves’ Travel as a Political Act” — before entertaining your questions live. I hope to see you there...and if you have friends who could use a little vicarious travel, please invite them to join you in registering for this virtual show at ricksteves.com/mnt. It’s free...fun...and extremely dangerous.

What say ye, @RadioFreeTom ?
This is probably also a sign that Putin believes Trump is going to lose.

This is the story
Looks as if Putin has abruptly lost confidence that Trump will win in November. Locking in his hostage-taking payoff early.

Very heartening to hear US captives in Russia -- Evan Gershkovich, Paul Whelan, and Gordon Black – are released. They were bargaining chips for Moscow but yet to see what the Kremlin got in return. Putin traded a notorious arms dealer and a convicted hitman for Brittney Griner.

I don’t think America is ready to elect a failed coup leader and convicted felon as president.

Some good news in SCOTUS opinion: 1. No immunity for unofficial acts; pressuring state officials, fake electors scheme, public statements made as a candidate likely qualify; 2. Immunity for official acts is only presumptive. Conduct must fall within “conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority.” Meetings with VP Pence still on the table. 3. POTUS need not be impeached and convicted first.

a dynamic that probably doesn't get discussed enough is that the media broadly takes for granted that Trump is malevolent & erratic, so when he is those things it's not treated as news. Biden meanwhile is assumed to be competent, so any gaffe or misstep is covered as a big deal.
