North Korea’s ability to disperse, conceal, and employ its drones, missiles, and nuclear weapons is outpacing South Korea’s capacity to destroy them. buff.ly/85XDRc1
"Bunker buster munitions were once a niche capability required for a small set of special targets. They have now moved into the mainstream as U.S. adversaries have responded to U.S. precision attack munitions by hardening and burying many activities," write Mark Cancian and @chrhspark.

This is baby Backpack, in case you needed another reason to root for the Lord of Lard, Earl of Girth and Commander in Beef. 👑
He got it from his mama.
Bear 89, aka Backpack, is the 2026 Fat Bear Week champ. Turns out hefty runs in the family.
His mom, Holly the Duchess of Density, won in 2019. She carried him on her back as a cub and helped him survive a serious leg injury. Now her little Backpack has a crown of his own. 👑

"Air power in an unusually seductive form of military strength, in part because, like modern courtship, it appears to offer gratification without commitment."
I'll give it to Cohen; that line is a beauty.

MUNITIONS STOCKPILE DEBATE: "We are in the midst of negotiating off of a framework deal with new entrants... building low-cost cruise missiles that are not intended to compete with the Tomahawk, but will complement it in a high-low mix that will allow us to have much greater volume." @USDASDuffey
Undersecretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment Michael Duffey joined @BretBaier addressed questions surrounding U.S. military stockpiles following months of operational deployments across the Middle East.
Pushing back against reports of missile depletion, Duffey highlighted a landmark $22.9 billion, 7-year deal to procure 7,000 Tomahawk cruise missiles alongside multi-year Patriot interceptor contracts. He noted that the Department is accelerating procurement and partnering with defense tech firms—including Anduril and Leidos—to build low-cost cruise missiles to complement traditional high-end munitions and rapidly expand inventory.

Pete Crow-Armstrong's performance tonight -- featuring 2 HRs, 2B, 1B, BB, K, SB and 3 RBIs -- added 0.5 fWAR to his season total, which is wild.
12 qualified MLB hitters have produced an fWAR less than that this season, including Kyle Tucker (0.4).
The U.S. is surging production of key munitions as fast as it can, but that commitment must be sustained. A few years of frenzied buying will not fully build inventories and will not establish the surge capacity that might be needed in a future conflict, argue Mark Cancian and Chris Park.
