What the hell does it take to get sent to prison? Sofiane Belasri, 41, sexually assaulted a 16-year-old schoolgirl in London. According to the judge, he saw how drunk she was and bought her MORE alcohol to help him commit the offence. This was a grown man deliberately exploiting a vulnerable child. He had five previous convictions, including theft and criminal damage. He had already failed to complete unpaid work imposed for an earlier offence, with 98 hours outstanding. The court also reportedly heard that his permission to remain in Britain expired in 2017 and his attempt to renew it was unsuccessful. The Home Office owes the public an explanation for why he was still here. And after all of that, after a jury convicted him, he received two years’ imprisonment suspended for two years. No immediate prison sentence. As a mother and a former prosecutor, I find this appalling. He had already failed to comply with one court-imposed punishment. Why should the public have confidence in another chance? Think about the girl. She and her friends came forward. The case reached court. A jury convicted him. Yet she is left anxious around older men and frightened about going out in London, while he avoids prison. What message does that send to her? What message does it send to the next girl wondering whether reporting an assault is worth everything it takes? I want this sentence reviewed. He should be serving a prison sentence, and the Home Office should be pursuing his deportation. Our daughters should not have to surrender their freedom so that the men who prey on them can keep theirs.

Your friends start bringing you guns and ammunition because otherwise this motherfucker is going to take the rest of it too. Then suddenly some guy from across town shows up and says, “Why are you so pro war? Why don’t you negotiate? People are dying. We need peace.” So your neighbor offers you his brilliant peace plan: “I keep the rooms I already stole. I keep whatever I took from your family. You promise never to join the neighborhood security organization that might protect you from me. Your friends stop giving you weapons. And then I promise I won’t take the rest of your house.” Would you call that peace? Would you hand him half of your fucking house? Would you tell your wife and children that sacrificing them is necessary because fighting back is “pro war”? Or would you load every fucking weapon you own and tell him to get the hell out of your house? That is the part I cannot understand about MAGA.
