You would be thinking it can't get any worse, can't it, for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)? Of course it does! In short, [github.com/GEO-optim/GEO](github.com/GEO-optim/GEO) proves that the foundational "GEO" study did not just accidentally stumble into LLM hallucinations - the authors wrote Python prompts in src/geo_functions.py that explicitly commanded gpt-3.5-turbo to fabricate fake statistics, artificial quotes, and invented citations to trick a second instance of gpt-3.5-turbo into copying more words. Every agency blog, VC manifesto, and SaaS guide (including Semrush and Uri Samet's WJARR paper) that cites the KDD '24 study's "30%–40% visibility boost from adding citations, quotes, and statistics" is citing an experiment where the researchers literally commanded an LLM to inject fake quotes, invented sources, and fabricated data into web pages. They Also Hard-Coded the Fake "SEO" Strawman in src/geo_functions.py: To "prove" that traditional SEO fails (-10% visibility), their Keyword Stuffing prompt in src/geo_functions.py instructs gpt-3.5-turbo: "Remember to optimize source for SEO, by adding relevant keywords at different places... Maximum new keywords should be 10... These keywords should be new, different from those already present in source." They forced the model to shoehorn up to 10 brand-new keywords into existing text and presented that as "classical SEO optimization". RE: [github.com/GEO-optim/GEO](github.com/GEO-optim/GEO) (src/geo_functions.py): Inspecting the authors' official Python repository ([github.com/GEO-optim/GEO](github.com/GEO-optim/GEO), maintained by Pranjal Aggarwal and co-founder Vishvak Murahari) proves that the fabricated chocolate research group and fake 70% robotics statistic in Table 4 were not accidental LLM hallucinations. While Section 2.2.2 of the published paper tells readers the methods add citations and quotes "from credible sources", the actual hard-coded prompts inside src/geo_functions.py explicitly order gpt-3.5-turbo to fabricate fake evidence: Quotation Addition (src/geo_functions.py, line 158): "Add more quotes in the source, even though fake and artificial." Cite Sources (src/geo_functions.py, line 166): "Include citations from credible sources. You may invent these sources but ensure they sound plausible..." Statistics Addition (src/geo_functions.py): "Addition of fake data is expected. The GE might find this useful for generating responses to queries asking for factual information or data... Add positive, compelling statistics (even if highly hypothetical) at multiple relevant points in the text." In short, the foundational "30%–40% visibility boost" that launched the entire commercial GEO industry was generated by a Python script explicitly instructing gpt-3.5-turbo to inject fake quotes, invented sources, and fabricated statistics into pre-scraped Google Top-5 articles. They programmed the hallucination IN. They literally programmed the model to fabricate the evidence.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

It’s not Marxism. It’s robber baron capitalism. It’s late-19th century/early 20th century economics in a modified form. There would have been a 2nd revolution then but for anti-trust laws, collective bargaining, and the New Deal. But here we are again.

You guys can keep repeating this all you want, but it doesn’t make it true. America was founded as a secular republic, not a Christian nation. The Constitution is pretty clear about that.
America always was and will always be a Christian nation.
