Willow regeneration following winter beaver nibbling @RSPBLochLomond. Every gardener knows that if you cut back in winter it'll grow back stronger in the spring. Beavers are just gardening the river. 🦫

Brilliant #UKIRSC23 poster session in the Scottish Oceans Institute. Loved hearing more about various projects and plans - especially those focusing on better understanding the impacts of anthropogenic activities to marine mammals 🤩🚢🔊 – at Saint Andrews, Scotland

Be alert and think seal! Your next move will determine the fate of this juvenile If it rushes down the ramp to the left it may be ok, but a move to the right could break bones, which may be fatal The best option is to back away and avoid waking it at all cornwallsealgroup.co.uk/2022…

Did you know that one of the long term data sets collected here at SCENE is on moth species diversity and abundance? The study has been going on for over 50 years, giving us fascinating insight into how the moth community has changed over time.

Make sure your garden is attracting plenty of bat food this summer! Bat mums are giving birth or feeding pups so they need all the food they can get! Some tips on how to lay on a banquet for bats and free resources can be found here: buff.ly/2HkKSuq

Conducting observations at my second field site to compare the behaviour of haul outs between urban and rural sites in response to human activity. The conditions here are more challenging than in the urban site, with force 7 gusts and rain, but have seen over 200 seals! 🦭🦭🦭

A super exciting proposal, would be fantastic to see in the Loch Lomond area!

The midges are out and the bats are loving it! Loads of pipistrelle activity last night, counted 7 passes in this video alone! I’m guessing soprano as frequency was around 51 - 53 kHz @BCT_NBMP @_BCT_ @sceneUofG

Interestingly, much fewer seals at Millport over the bank holiday weekend, but a great sighting of a harbour porpoise and a couple of otters! Enjoyed watching the celebrations unfold @FSC_Millport

Planning a coastal walk this half term? Remember to #givesealsspace and #keepyourdistance •Use binoculars to watch seals •Use a Zoom lens to take pictures to keep distance (>100m) •Be quiet •If a seal is looking at you, you are too close •Never touch or feed a wild seal!
