over the last year i've reached out to over 50 tourney players, countless staff and most public spaces asking what makes tourneys "click". i came to the conclusion that what matters most is your tournament's audience, expectation, and identity.

Idk why this is downvoted but Truth Nuke on reddit... This particular comment is definitely overexaggerated but personally i would rather play and even watch really hard maps which are not close because the better player actually gets the better scores consistently as they should

this is why it's important that players, viewers, and staff all have options for tourneys. COE is the high skillcap 1v1, roundtable was a consistency battle, OWC stays as the national midrange tourney, and with corsace coming back a high skillcap 4v4 tourney is in the cards.

if all the tourneys were the same difficulty, by the same poolers, and with the same goals in mind, you don't get to experience tournament identities and unique playing experiences.

My apologies to @Trick2g for the off the cuff and incurious reply last night. Feedback very much received from folks more generally that they’d like to see more thoughtful replies from me in general, so I’m taking that as a note to focus more on quality and less on volume of replies. We’re in touch directly with Trick and co about all of this. Our stance on smurfing and boosting remains the same, but we have heard loud and clear that “how do I know when it’s ok to play with friends” is not something we’ve been clear enough on. I’ll work with the team to get something clearer out on official channels. Thank you, now as ever, for the feedback.
