Some people say I’m scrappy… techcrunch.com/2022/09/02/pi…
staffer: sir we’re bombing half the planet, nobody can afford gas, healthcare is bankrupting people, and our approval ratings are in the gutter
trump: hear me out

so much aura 😮💨

Getting overwhelmed by the amount of great releases this week:
Pi 1.0 with durable support
Clef a top-tier Jev type model by @CloudflareDev
Effect 4
OpenAI Dev Day (Sign in with ChatGPT feels seriously underrated atm)
What am I missing?
1/ OpenAI DevDay highlights, in priority order:
- Biggest news: Sign in with ChatGPT allows token sharing. Every AI product just got easier to adopt.
- Plugin Extensions allow for embedded rich apps like Figma + Adobe in ChatGPT.
- Agents can discover plugins without a human request.
2/ Dots + ChatGPT Space:
- “Dots” are the new long-context agent competitor, with heavy emphasis on voice.
- Chief of Staff + Engineer use cases.
- Text or call your Dot (Instinct style).
- Existing Codex integrations carry over.
- Usage doesn’t count toward limits (shock).
3/ Codex + collaboration:
- ChatGPT Space: Notion-style multiplayer UI for Dots + teammates. Presentations coming soon.
- Codex supports fully cloud runs.
- Security Cloud finds vulnerabilities + pushes fixes.
- Agents API adds programmatic control of hosted Codex, with AWS support.
4/ Models + speed:
- GPT 6.1 Sol is basically on par with Astra.
- Ultrafast: 8x speed at 6x price, initially exclusive to Astra. Sol coming soon.
- Responses API with Ultrafast looked really fast.
5/ Plans + Marketplace:
- Pro 500: Ultrafast, no 5-hour limit, 25x Plus usage.
- Pro 200 is back, moving to half API cost.
- OpenAI Marketplace lets you share an OpenAI agreement across organizations + providers.
6/ APIs + privacy:
- Decisions API: OpenAI’s Jev competitor, using Luna with predefined choices. Emphasis on realtime computer use.
- OpenAI Private Intelligence: ZDR with private safety processing AND private inference, in preview.
7/ AI research:
- OpenAI claims recursive self-improvement via an “AI Research Intern.”
- Computer-use advances were one example.
- Over a third of model research is now handled autonomously by agents.
8/ Other moments:
- More voice emphasis in Codex CLI.
- “Rewrite the entire backend in Rust” felt like shade at Anthropic/Bun.
- Astra demoed the Hugging Face duck robot. An apology for brutally hacking them?

Unfortunately I suffer from “it can’t be that hard” syndrome
I’ve been wrong every single time
This is also responsible for everything good in my life
Qwen 3 VL series models are seriously underrated… so much power at the small sizes for real world use cases
Set up @bot last week for my very non-techy gf and she loves it
So this weekend I built a little Cloudflare side project connecting our bots. Open sourced for the other tech-nerd partners whose love language is making things (so far we’ve found it’s great for scheduling and research):
github.com/chipherndon/grok-…
My list of teams that will win (so I can quote this in a few years and look smart):
@autumnpricing fantastic product simplifying everything hard about implementing billing for AI. Stripe acquisition feels inevitable
@paper is enabling designers to ship real frontend code, once they ship existing code component support Figma is cooked
@Cloudflare agentic applications and traffic are going to increase exponentially for the next decade, and Cloudflare just makes the best products to support them. Plus @threepointone in his new visionary type role is bound to produce many more genius products
Lastly @firecrawl offers by far the best ai search overall for the price. In such a competitive space the team is shipping tons of helpful open source projects for real ai builders and @ericciarla is clearly an absolute unit of a founder… my bet is they’ll continue to eat away at market share by becoming the developers favorite choice
Avoided Opus 5 after hearing how bad it is… until I burned through my Cursor limits on Grok 4.6 (fantastic model btw) and got forced back to Claude
For anyone who held out like me: it really is the worst Anthropic model for real dev work
Been deep diving into OCR lately, realizing most current methods are terrible for agentic tasks… everyone is still stuck in the era of chasing no hallucinations in rag
Models are more aligned now, and we need to operate with more trust in our systems (case and point @bot)
More on this soon
small moment of joy making these empty states in Cursor
dev work with agents can get monotonous, but finding little new use cases like this will never get old
anyone else experience moments like this?
If I thought my product was the best, I’d always include my competitors
@Cloudflare missing here is telling…
$NET is by far the best platform for building and deploying agentic applications
If you spent the last year building in the space, this was the easiest investment ever
My portfolio says thanks @eastdakota 🍻
