1000 jobs a month are being lost in the North Sea While your Department tries to claim there are 0.5 million green jobs by reclsssifying old jobs like bin men as now being "green" It's a con trick. Net zero is driving jobs out of the North Sea faster than any new green jobs are created as well as driving massive job losses through deindustrialisation I'm sure the people who work in the newly mothballed Ineos chemical plants share my scepticism about your half-baked narrative

Manchester City cheated Premier League rules, the Commission found. Did it also cheat HMRC? We've examined the decision and leaked Mancini documents. We think City likely failed to pay £12m in tax. There should be a criminal investigation. Thread:

Manchester City Council external debt rose from about £540m in 2017 to £1.74bn by 2026. That is an increase of roughly £1.20bn, or 222%. Leese led the council until 2021. Craig succeeded him and remained leader into 2026. Burnham was Greater Manchester Mayor from 2017 until June 2026. Nearly three times the debt in nine years. And the next question is simple: where did the money go?

Burnham has another try.
NEW Downing Street issues fresh statement on Man City case in an attempt to clarify Andy Burnham's comments to @ChrisMasonBBC yesterday A No 10 spokesperson said: “As the Prime Minister made clear, the initial judgement is serious and there can’t be any suggestion that anyone is above the rules. He also stressed that it is an ongoing independent process. It is essential that it is allowed to run its course and the outcome respected. “If wrongdoing is established, those responsible should face the appropriate consequences.“

🚨 THE MANCHESTER–UAE–LABOUR NETWORK We traced the political structure around Manchester’s relationship with Sheikh Mansour’s investment network. The result reaches well beyond football. 🏗️ MANCHESTER LIFE Companies House records Sheikh Mansour as a person with significant control of Manchester Life Development Company, while Manchester City Council is also recorded as a significant shareholder. Manchester Life sits at the centre of the council-development relationship. 🏛️ SIR RICHARD LEESE Leese led Manchester City Council for 25 years and became a Manchester Life director. When Andy Burnham became Mayor of Greater Manchester in 2017, Burnham appointed Leese as Deputy Mayor with responsibility for business and the economy. Leese therefore sat across Manchester City Council, Manchester Life and Burnham’s regional economic leadership. He was later appointed Honorary President of Manchester City. 🏗️ BEV CRAIG Craig succeeded Leese as Manchester council leader and also succeeded him inside Manchester Life. She subsequently became a senior Greater Manchester figure on economy and business under Burnham. So the political succession is remarkably neat: Leese → Craig Both occupied senior Labour roles in Manchester while also holding positions inside Manchester Life. 👔 ANDY BURNHAM Burnham was not a Manchester Life director. His importance is political. He placed Leese, already embedded in Manchester Life, at the centre of Greater Manchester economic policy. Craig later became another central economic figure in his administration while also sitting inside Manchester Life. That makes Burnham the political bridge between the local development structure and the wider Greater Manchester economic model. 🎟️ JEFF SMITH MP Jeff Smith has declared football hospitality involving Manchester City fixtures. His current register includes £900 of EFL hospitality for Manchester City v Arsenal at Wembley in March 2026. 🎟️ LUCY POWELL MP Lucy Powell has also declared hospitality involving Manchester City fixtures. Her current register includes: • £900 of EFL hospitality for Manchester City v Arsenal • £580 of FA hospitality for Manchester City v Chelsea. Again, these are declared interests, not evidence of improper conduct. ✈️ DAN CARDEN MP Carden declared a £9,364 visit to the UAE, funded by the UAE Embassy between 27 January and 1 February 2026. That covered flights, accommodation, food and in-country transport. 🇦🇪 RUSHANARA ALI MP Ali is a current Labour Vice-Chair of the UAE All-Party Parliamentary Group, Westminster’s formal cross-party group for strengthening UK-UAE relations. 🇦🇪 LORD BLUNKETT Former Labour Home Secretary David Blunkett is also a current Vice-Chair of the UAE APPG. 🇦🇪 SAMANTHA NIBLETT MP Niblett also served as a Vice-Chair of the UAE APPG before leaving that role. 🇦🇪 YVONNE FOVARGUE Former Labour MP Yvonne Fovargue repeatedly served as a Vice-Chair of the UAE APPG across previous parliamentary registers. 🇦🇪 JOHN SPELLAR Former Labour MP John Spellar also served as a Vice-Chair of the UAE APPG. 🇦🇪 KHALID MAHMOOD Former Labour MP Khalid Mahmood likewise served as a Vice-Chair of the UAE APPG. 🇦🇪 STEVE McCABE Former Labour MP Steve McCabe also appears in previous parliamentary registers as a Vice-Chair of the UAE APPG. 💷 THE UAE APPG ITSELF The group has declared UAE Embassy-funded benefits, including travel to Abu Dhabi and parliamentary events. As of June 2026, its officers included Rushanara Ali and Lord Blunkett, and the register recorded: • £6,001–£7,500 for the chair’s Abu Dhabi travel • £1,501–£3,000 for a UAE National Day parliamentary reception • £22,501–£24,000 for an Abu Dhabi visit by the chair and another MP. 🔍 THE NETWORK The documented Labour names are therefore: Andy Burnham Sir Richard Leese Bev Craig Jeff Smith MP Lucy Powell MP Dan Carden MP Rushanara Ali MP Lord Blunkett Samantha Niblett MP Yvonne Fovargue John Spellar Khalid Mahmood Steve McCabe

One of the issues about Net Zero is, we're still not properly exposing the DESNZ, Ofgem & NESO lies about long term network costs. Net Zero loads would be multiples of today's, requiring extensive, costly, & disruptive, reinforcement of both transmission & distribution networks.
I don't believe a delayed connection is a factor in the DBA slippage? But curtailment due to wider grid constraints will be significant. It's important IMO to properly separate grid connection & reinforcement issues, & reinforcement for altered flows (renewables) v. load growth.

Rishi Sunak could not have been more right in his prediction of what Labour would do. We’ve already seen huge tax hikes, and I fully expect another tax hike at the upcoming budget. By the time this Government is finished crashing our economy, they will have set Britain back decades. The damage Labour is doing will outlive this Government.

NB This Labour government slapped an NIC hike on care providers and hospices.
“I want to speak directly to our care workers, you are not invisible to me”. The most powerful line in Burnham’s speech so far, especially because of the emotion with which it was delivered.

Replacing triple lock with a system that ensures state pension rises with earnings over time, but never rises by less than inflation, makes a lot of sense. Good. The idea this will pay for free social care any time soon, though, is for the birds. That will mean higher taxes.

What on earth is Andy Burnham talking about? Talking about the “common wealth Labour created” until the 1980s came along. Andy forgot to say that under Labour PM Sunny Jim Callaghan, exactly 50 years ago, the IMF had to come in and bail out the UK from the debt created under Labour! There was no “common wealth” created by Labour - just astronomical debt! History is repeating itself.

In 1997 the Tories bequeathed New Labour: - 3.5% GDP growth - 4.5% wage growth - 4.6% manufacturing output growth - Energy independence and falling energy prices - A brand new nuclear power station (1995) - New reservoirs (1992) - Construction of Manchester airport's second runway - Falling unemployment - London as the world’s leading foreign-exchange centre - A newly opened Channel Tunnel - Debt at just 37% of GDP - On track for a balanced budget Andy Burnham just said that this was failure. Somehow.

A standing ovation for saving £40 of electricity bills through scrapping VAT. That’s a pretty low bar. Funny how bills are expected to rise by 20% in January…..
