It’s even worse if you go back a decade to 2013. A teacher at the top of the scale was paid $53,180 plus $2393 in longevity pay, for a total of $55,573, which means teachers at the top of the scale are paid $473 less in the new budget than they were paid in 2013

Let’s put this in real perspective. A teacher in 2008 at the top of the scale was paid $52,550 by the state and $2,365 in longevity pay, for a total of $54,915. A teacher at the top of the scale in this new budget will be paid $55,100–an increase $185 over the past 15 years.

Aidvantage finally let me know what my monthly payments will be, and that I start paying again in January. They'll be paid off after our 8th grader is finished with college and 22 years after I started repayment. I'll be 51. 🤷🏻‍♀️
