Great post by Balancer. We strongly share this security philosophy: the goal is not to assume that code will never fail, but to design systems so that a single failure cannot become catastrophic. This is also very close to how we think about Overlayer. We chose a modular architecture specifically so that the failure of a single stablecoin does not propagate across the entire system. We also introduced non-bypassable minimum delays before changes to protocol logic or parameters can take effect. This allows the protocol to evolve, while making malicious changes much harder to execute silently: any such change would require enough time to become effective for users to see it, assess it, and exit the protocol if necessary. These are only two examples among many safeguards that may look unnecessary from the outside, but can make a meaningful difference when something actually goes wrong. We are often asked: “If your code is open source, what protects you from being copied?” A large part of the answer lies exactly here. Code can be copied. The reasoning behind the architecture, the assumptions behind each safeguard, and the preparation for failure modes that have not happened yet are much harder to replicate and even harder to evolve correctly over time. Kudos to the Balancer team for articulating this so clearly, it is a pleasure to work with people operating at this level.
