What does the data tell us about the number of jobs reclaimed by South Africans since the beginning of Mabahambe? How many black South Africans have taken over or opened spaza shops? How many South Africans have been employed by restaurants following the marches? Beyond anecdotes about empty clinics and hospitals, what do the figures show? Have patient-to-healthcare-worker ratios improved? Are waiting times shorter? eNCA has led the coverage of the marches with extraordinary enthusiasm, with the SABC close behind. After devoting so much attention to the demonstrations and their leaders, both broadcasters should now be asking these important questions: What has changed? How many jobs have been reclaimed? How many businesses have changed hands? Have public services improved? With so much destruction of property and anxiety, surely this feedback is in the public interest. Or are the broadcasters just drawn to the drama of the demonstrations.

To those who can see this I have a question. Every month when u can BARELY afford food,BARELY make rent,BARELY afford to pay your school fees and cant save for a permanent home...is that the fault of immigrants? Or is that corporations being greedy,DO NOT BE FOOLED BY CAPITALISTS

💯. Hairdressers talk about their families, childhood, work histories. After 3 years, you've covered every topic and know so much about each other. Their accents are also different to those of South Africans. The music and food they sample tells you so much about them....their phones often ring whilst doing your hair and most answer because it could be family, friends, another client....they'll switch between languages. She's lying.

So for 3 years, she continued doing her hair with the hairdresser and only "just discovered" she's not South African? 3 years of conversations and paying someone and she didn't know where she comes from? She's not only a domkop but has no social skills. How do you not know where someone who touches your hair for 3 years, comes from? Secondly, why did she not just report the hairdresser's intention to commit a crime on the same day? Why wait for the crime to be committed? Third, why would a foreign national, at this heightened, tense time, confess to a South African that she intends to buy an ID? Shit for brains I tell you.
Her target market will run with this. Won't even ask how/why she allowed this nonexistent drunk person to touch her. Agenda

The unfortunate part about these local government elections being unnecessarily dominated by the topic of immigration is that we missing out on speaking about many real life issues affecting municipalities. We not even hearing innovative ideas to reform local government.

She shouldn’t have to do that. Not only would it be dishonest, but anyone who brings up her tweets about her comfort with her own sexuality in a political debate is an absolute moron, and probably wasn’t going to vote for her anyway. She must never delete — it’s 2026, not 1932.
Big P should have wiped her account before she decided to join politics. Her ops will tear her apart based on her historical conduct on this app alone

Hello Einstein. I teach this kind of thing to 1st year students. Let me help you. Propaganda 101: Take criticism, amplify it, make it about the collective so you can engineer mob outrage. It is also narcissistic to appropriate an entire nation's identity on something directed at a few. I did not call South Africans bigots. You know which ones I called bigots? The ones who FABRICATED a LIE about the Minister's husband's nationality. It is a lie that he is Congolese. But the bigots fabricated that for a purpose. Those are the bigots. Interesting that you are inadvertently owning the title. The shoe fits? Nice. But it fits on you. Don't make it about "South Africans." Another feature of disinformation- when the lie is exposed, don't acknowledge and correct it but shift the goalpost and blur the topic. "Questioning the Minister " on policy is not the topic. The LIE about her husband's nationality is. Your confusion is noted.
Redi what what calling South Africans bigots! Ngobani? Just because they questioned a minister who is fighting tooth and nail to keep illegal and lying asylum seekers? To think I once considered this lady’s style of journalism erudite 🤦‍♀️

If they followed laws of South Africa and have acquired citizenship and have shown loyalty to SA why not? I have 3 nieces who are in Zimbabwe, they were born in SA and moved to Zim. If they make it in Zim within the parameters of the Zimbabwean laws,I do not see a problem. Earlier on this year , my boy got a scholarship to the US . If he makes it and wants to stay there permanently, why will that be a crime? People migrate! We should speak against lawlessness not migration as if it is wrong.
At some point these Somalians will have full voting rights, next thing they are in parliament. 💔🇿🇦

And the thing about deserting kindness is that we all lose it - the impact is not limited to the intended recipients of brutality. It will eventually reach all of us if the character of the nation is anti kindness.

Our laws are institutionally kind and were meant to create an institutionally kind society because we have a past of both institutionally harmful laws and society. The period we’re in, I believe, will determine whether we want to move forward as a kind or hateful society.

I am beginning to suspect that the SABC particularly this program has taken an editorial posture to exploit and abuse the immigration question for commercial value, and this is would be extremely disturbing for a public broadcaster. Faith is not a terrible host, but she has committed herself to this topic, and out of good faith, I refuse to believe she is trying to build a fan-base or revive a dead career like other has-been creatives are doing with immigration. When I was in studio with her last, the SABC videographer only came in to record my response to her misplaced question on illegal immigration. It was like THE moment, ad-break, videographer comes in, “okay now we are going to ask the question” - I recall telling @AmilcarDBaleni who had accompanied me about how odd it was. We are two-weeks away from possibly the most important elections since the dawn of democracy, and the public broadcaster is not preoccupied with tracking whether service delivery commitments made in 2021 have been fulfilled, not reporting on abandoned communities, broken municipalities and neglected youth - it’s just this, every day.

On behalf of the government and people of South Africa, I offer warm congratulations to His Excellency President @PaulKagame and the government and people of Rwanda on securing a 10-year agreement to host the Formula 1 African Grand Prix. South Africa shares in the pride with which Rwanda is preparing to fly the chequered flag for our continent with the hosting of a globally prestigious event at the planned Bugesera circuit from the early 2030s. This contract is a recognition of the capabilities of the Rwandan nation and of our continent more broadly. As host of the first Grand Prix on African soil in 1993, and organiser of other major global events, South Africa will be happy to provide any support we may be invited to share. The F1 African Grand Prix is another lustrous addition to Rwanda’s growing collection of top international events, including the UCI-classified Tour du Rwanda cycling race. Congratulations, Rwanda. You are in pole position to make all of Africa proud and take motorsport to new heights.

We had a continental imagination of freedom. There was no mention of "South" in the anthem of libetion. It was always Afrika. The beginning and the ending. Afrika. ❤️
The realization that the Tanzanian National Anthem is the original Nkosi Sikelela score is healing.
