YOU CANNOT HAVE EVERYTHING YOU WANT IN A GAY MAN.
A friend of mine who is now deceased, (may his soul rip), once rejected a guy because he was too feminine. A few months later, he rejected another because he was not muscular enough. The next guy was handsome, masculine, financially stable, and genuinely interested in him, but he complained that the chemistry was not strong enough.
However, he told me he was tired of being single and can not seem to find a man who ticks all his boxes.
I had asked him a simple question: "Have you ever considered that the man you are looking for might not exist?"
He got defensive immediately.
But here is the thing. He wants a masculine man who is emotionally available, handsome, muscular, financially stable, romantic, loyal, great in bed, always available, and completely free of baggage.
Meanwhile, he admits that he does not possess every single quality he is demanding from a partner.
And I think this is where some of us get it wrong. We create such a detailed picture of our ideal man that we overlook genuinely good people because they lack one or two things on our checklist.
Of course, nobody should settle for disrespect, incompatibility, or a relationship that makes them unhappy. Standards also matter.
But there is a difference between knowing what you need and expecting one person to satisfy every preference you have.
So let me ask you: are some gay men genuinely single because they have not found the right person, or because they have made their expectations impossible to meet? π

If you are a gay man who wants a serious relationship, I think one of the biggest mistakes is focusing entirely on whether someone is exciting. Pay attention to whether he is reliable. How he treats people when he is frustrated. How he handles money. Whether he keeps plans. Whether his life is constantly in crisis. Those things become much more important with time.

I want a stable climate.
I want bees to survive.
